Had to point that out - gamer31, on 02/27/2008, -47/+407Unfortunately for the Linux people, that's the closest thing to a condom they'll ever need.
(i wonder how many linux whores will digg me down for this) - coheedcollapse, on 02/27/2008, -9/+301The Windows solution = Don't be a complete idiot and follow that obviously false link.
- Remmy, on 02/27/2008, -3/+214Unfortunately, many young people have unprotected textual relations which lead to unwanted stupidity.
- alexgap, on 02/27/2008, -9/+211I run linux
*flips onto bike and speeds away* - likwidtek, on 02/27/2008, -16/+214Been running Ubuntu for almost a year an love every minute of it. It's not perfect but it's peace of mind for sure.
- Halukard, on 02/27/2008, -11/+158Meaning that it's safer but less enjoyable ?
- Jambi, on 02/27/2008, -5/+145You might wanna call 'em Windows whores next time, since Linux is often run on (gasp!) PCs.
- inactive, on 02/27/2008, -3/+138sudo make me a sandwich
- nbrntrt, on 02/27/2008, -20/+146Let me start of by saying Linux is very secure and stable and I am a supporter. Buuuuuut, I do get tired of statements like "my computer is safe because I use X". Remember when apples OS was so secure it wouldn't ever need all the updates that windows does... well guess what, now they update about as much as MS. Any popular OS with a large install base becomes more of a target for the, well "hackers" for lack of a better word. Once an entire year goes by without a single CERT advisory directed at linux, well then I will shut up. Until then, obscurity is not security.
- Akaji, on 02/27/2008, -8/+121Probably not many. Most of us realize that almost all malware is targeted at Windows.
- coit, on 02/27/2008, -5/+118Why, because its users are all dicks?
/kidding! - bitspace, on 02/27/2008, -2/+105That's 6 seconds more 1337 than 1337!
- brentinkc, on 02/27/2008, -5/+102Similar to knowing how to avoid this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU on Digg.
- dvsbastard, on 02/27/2008, -2/+99"Security Center"?! It is people like you who ensure that these kinds of malicious spam tactics are successful...
By the way, I have a Nigerian friend who would like to speak to you... - jemka, on 02/27/2008, -0/+95I don't even look anymore. I just click and grove to my new digg background music.
- Dropperbr, on 02/27/2008, -9/+102What about if he get a virus on Wine? -.o
- lengau, on 02/27/2008, -2/+88rm -r ~/.wine
- inactive, on 02/27/2008, -1/+81That's what she said.
- inactive, on 02/27/2008, -1/+76Um, is a spammer on Skype, trying to get you to download malware.
- bitterbug, on 02/27/2008, -0/+66I use Wine to run all my malware under Ubuntu.
- coheedcollapse, on 02/27/2008, -6/+69If you have enough knowledge to install and run Ubuntu with everything that you had on your windows box you have enough knowledge to know that the person in that IM is not "Windows Security Center" therefore avoiding the virus on either platform.
- rockets, on 02/27/2008, -1/+64No, no, no guys... first play with it. Laugh at it. THEN and only then, delete it.
- TacticalPenguin, on 02/27/2008, -1/+62I could be considered a "linux whore" and I dugg you up
- daliminator, on 02/27/2008, -0/+59Avoid it?
Oh Rick Astley... How could I ever give you up? - brawr, on 02/27/2008, -0/+57for the people who dont get it:
http://www.xkcd.com/272/ - gotamd, on 02/27/2008, -1/+57*phew* My Windows 95 machine is safe!
- stalefries, on 02/27/2008, -4/+56|_0|_ N00|3
- inactive, on 02/27/2008, -3/+54I can help you guys with all your Windows virus, crashing, bugs, ALL problems! Just email me.
...oh, and don't forget to include your SSN, home address, credit card number, and your banking account info. - trogdoor, on 02/27/2008, -4/+55Responding to automated spam = idiotic.
- likwidtek, on 02/27/2008, -1/+52good eye.
- Evolutuon, on 02/27/2008, -7/+55 i less than three linux
- Jambi, on 02/27/2008, -2/+50If I went by those, I'd never have gotten a Mac. John Hodgeman is funny, whereas the Mac guy comes off like the bad actor reading some advertising spiel that he actually is.
- brentinkc, on 02/27/2008, -0/+45Seriously?
- sapient2003, on 02/27/2008, -3/+47It has nothing to do with the amount of user base. Linux is more secure due to it's core architecture. More people could use Linux and it would still be far more secure than Windows.
- SuperMoses, on 02/27/2008, -0/+44Email sent! Hopefully you can reply quicker than the Nigerian man who required some assistance transferring his money.
- EXTER, on 02/27/2008, -2/+42The point is that the spammer advertised something that is useless in Linux or any other OS.
- Baltoche, on 02/27/2008, -1/+39My grand mother uses Ubuntu, and she has no knowledge what so ever.
- JustAboutReal, on 02/27/2008, -0/+37no knowledge at all?
- ElBeh, on 02/27/2008, -4/+39I don't get why people hate getting RickRoll'D so much. That song is awesome.
- capiCrimm, on 02/27/2008, -0/+35The Prince better not be sharing our profits with anyone else.
- bruenig, on 02/27/2008, -0/+34You wouldn't recompile wine, why in the hell is this being dugg up. Must be ubuntu users who don't understand how stupid that statement is.
- woodcoxcb, on 02/27/2008, -2/+36I'm glad to see submitters are using the long-requested picture section...
- RedS0x, on 02/27/2008, -1/+35Don't you think you have commented enough on this story?
- cdmarcus, on 02/27/2008, -4/+3724-hour time... I use it, apparently so does this guy. The significance is that it says 1337.
- bejayel, on 02/27/2008, -3/+36leet, as in what you say in public if you never want to get laid - again - in your life.
- JeffD, on 02/27/2008, -2/+34Shes brain dead, her life support runs Ubuntu.
- trogdoor, on 02/27/2008, -2/+31This is Digg, basic competency with computers is assumed.
- senfo, on 02/27/2008, -1/+29Oh cool, that's my favorite weapon in Doom.
