- cday, on 09/15/2008, -1/+6@ptFoe, The real shame is people who express an opinion, or who legitimately question the rights and wrongs of things, get called whiners and criers. Maybe what you see as "whining" is actually voices of people who wish to protect the Freedoms we have left. "Little things like this" can grow into bigger things if no one pays attention and speaks up.
Better to discuss it and resolve it now than to wait until after there's been damage done. There's even some folks suggesting that the wording in this EULA might even violate the GPL. Nobody wants to see Mozilla's reputation damaged, so it definitely does need to be discussed.
If you're worried that objections to Mozilla's new EULA will "deter other major software companies from porting their applications to Linux" then your priorities are different. Nothing wrong with that. But there's no need to belittle those who go to bat to keep the software Free and the GPL intact.
Personally, after finally getting away from Microsoft's products, I don't want to go back to that kind of nonsense, and it IS nonsense, because this EULA is completely unnecessary.
Here's an interesting take on the subject, it might make the issue clearer for you:

They will cry about everything. Not even taking into consideration what Mozilla has done for Linux. Unlike other companies they have provided applications for an OS that has just 1% of the desktop market.
I can understand this whining on pure distributions like gNuSense but Ubuntu is aimed at the mass market. Crying about little things like this will only deter other major software companies from porting their applications to Linux.
