- mooninite, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17XFCE is my desktop of choice. I tried KDE and Gnome for months without finding a way to cut the fat and/or make it work like I wanted.
Benedikt is a great developer and Thunar is a great file manager. The future is bright for KDE and Gnome, yes, but XFCE is also growing just as bright. - ArthurBrazil, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9xubuntu definatly makes it easier for newbies to linux to jump right in. xfce is pretty cool for older boxes. gnome wouldnt run on my old laptop well but xfce really made the difference.
- jonesin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7No doubt, XFCE is a great alternative to the big two desktop environments.
- Nerotique, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7It's a LOT easier to install now, that's for sure. Back in the day, you had to compile each component by hand... and in the proper order. Took forever.
- DustPuppySnr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6After reading the article, I just had to check it out again. On Debian Etch everything Just Works. A lot of work has gone into it since the last time I checked it out. And BTW XFCE + Beryl looks pretty awesome.
- Vinvin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Awesome :)
I mostly try to get people to at least give Xfce's new version another try, and then mostly people really like it :) - LeeDoyle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Ive been using Xfce for awhile now and love it. I use it on a old Athlon with only 286MB of ram and 4GB harddrive....
It works great. i am using it with xubuntu.
It is a good interview too, would like to see some more - lunarcanary, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4My neighbors laptop recently broke and is off for repair. I've recently tried installing Xubuntu 7.04 on his PC with 256mB ram with a 200mhz pentium. Needless to say, that's one more neighbor up all night on digg.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Xfce is great, its much lighter than kde or gnome and easy to use.
- epohs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I would really love to see a marketing push by the XFCE team for additional developers. I was fairly surprised when I read that there were only 6 or 7 active developers. For such an excellent piece of software, I would expected a larger team.
- digifuzz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1xfce DOES support dual monitors properly. it's all about configuration.. each screen can either independently have its own taskbar, or they can both share one. I, too, prefer the latter. it just depends on what you throw into your xorg.conf.
- superjamie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2XFCE is great, it's just as good as GNOME or KDE, but a million times quicker!
I will switch to it when it supports dual monitors properly (one task list per screen), which is planned for the next version. Can't wait :) - HsoKinees, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1digg? 256mB ram? i assume he uses firefox? that's some major hdd thrashing!!!
- oobuntu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1What are the RAM requirements for installing Xubuntu now? I remember i had problems because the installer required too much (>192MB).
- whataboutdave, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1This is the guy behind the current terminal emulator? I love Xfce, but hate the terminal emulator's bad behavior on some recent installs.
- lunarcanary, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0I tried installing Xubuntu on my neighbors 200mhz pentium 1 as his laptop was in the shop. Needless to say, that's another user on digg at 3AM.
- shit, on 10/10/2007, -9/+2I'll get off your lawn now. Sorry about that.

What is Digg?
