- trmanco, on 04/10/2009, -3/+65What's new in this release (see below for details):
- Support for Visual C++ project files in winemaker.
- Improvements to the Esound driver.
- Many Direct3D code cleanups.
- Fixes to OLE clipboard handling.
- OpenBSD compilation fixed.
- Various bug fixes. - x713, on 04/11/2009, -7/+66Dugg to annoy all the people bitching. Wine is a great project and will always get a digg from me.
- Heidenreich12, on 04/11/2009, -1/+35i love how wine always gets a digg for every little update
- sexybobo, on 04/11/2009, -1/+34WGA is a lot easier to get to work in wine that in windows.
- rdvon, on 04/11/2009, -0/+24Well, yes. Sort of.

now ***** off with that stupid meme! >=[ - zwaldowski, on 04/11/2009, -0/+23All of those are true... granted, x86_64 is provided partly by ia32_libs, it still runs. And, WGA has worked in Wine.
- zwaldowski, on 04/11/2009, -0/+21It's simply not the way Wine works; while these may seem like "bugfixes," remember that they're reverse-engineering (well, not really, but simplified) the entire Windows API. So, in a way, making something work *is* a new feature.
- rpi22, on 04/11/2009, -5/+26Beer 2.0
- newbill123, on 04/11/2009, -0/+17The things fixed in this release weren't high in quantity, but I was amazed that some very old bugs were finally resolved.
The second oldest open bug in Wine's bug database (Support for Visual C++ project files in winemaker) was finally fixed. After almost a decade, I didn't expect this to still be on anyone's radar. - Radan, on 04/11/2009, -0/+16But a picture of a god damn turtle does?
- XeroXenith, on 04/11/2009, -0/+15How about you simply bury it and move on? I want to see when a new Wine dev release is released, and evidently a few hundred others do as well. Digg doesn't revolve around you.
- exspasticcomics, on 04/11/2009, -1/+15then you must be doing it wrong- it's suppose to run windows programs on linux :P /s
- Sammi84, on 04/11/2009, -2/+16Wine Is Not An Emulator.
It's a compatibility layer and reimplementation of the win32 API on *nix systems. - srg13, on 04/11/2009, -0/+11They deserve the diggs - Wine improves massively with each release.
- ACiDGRiM, on 04/11/2009, -20/+30How about we stop submitting "DEVELOPMENT RELEASES"! When there's some real progress, like release ready x86_64 builds, or they crack the entire windows API and you can even get WGA to activate WINE, then you can post something.
- inactive, on 04/11/2009, -1/+10Dugg up for the "WGA to activate WINE" thing. I found it funny somehow.
- EmperorPsiblade, on 04/11/2009, -2/+10Windo... HAHAHAHA THERE'S JUST NO WAY I CAN SAY THAT!
OSX, Linux or any BSD, are real OSes compared to Windows! - turbomofo, on 04/11/2009, -0/+8Holy Crap WINE has gotten so much better in the last few releases. The few Windows apps I use all work flawlessly in Linux now. The only reason I boot into Windows is for gaming.
- newbill123, on 04/11/2009, -3/+10Jesus! Wine developers should have more respect! All through Lent they should have been working on these religious sounding bugs. Barring some sort of miracle, they'll still be present on Easter.

(Of course, if you're a creationist, the last one could have been marked as "Intended Behavior. Will Not Fix" instead) - CeeJayDK, on 04/11/2009, -0/+7Do you like fish sticks ?
- MethodOne, on 04/11/2009, -1/+8Like what?
- ThantiK, on 04/11/2009, -0/+6Dugg because it's easier to just come to digg.com every day than have to check up on old repositories, and search for changelogs to get the info I need. I wish every *interesting* linux project was dugg to the front page.
- srg13, on 04/12/2009, -0/+5"Then why do you want a program that implements the Win32 API?"
Why do you think? So we can run Windows applications without having to put up with Windows itself... - Dalif, on 04/11/2009, -0/+5It's on the internets. If you need any other reason, you're doing whatever it is you're doing, wrong.
- srg13, on 04/11/2009, -1/+6Clearly you care enough to make a stupid comment on the story... Why don't you just ignore it if you don't like it, idiot?
- inactive, on 04/11/2009, -1/+5I bet WINE will finally work properly once Windows becomes irrelevant.
- strangeman, on 04/13/2009, -0/+4You obviously don't know that the "development" releases are in fact the real releases. The wine project has only had one (!) non-development release.
As other mentioned above.. major fixes have been introduced in this release and I (as many others) want to know about them. That is why I use digg. - Xyc0, on 04/11/2009, -0/+2No one uses 2007 unless they are trying to cram in a few extra rows in Excel. This is when you realize that you should be using a GDMF database. Seriously, that whole incompatibility scare is 3 years old and has yet to effect me as a Linux user--let alone my grandparents trying to send kitty pictures in a .doc extension.
- XeroXenith, on 04/11/2009, -1/+3Fanboys make me laugh. Seriously, every OS is the best, for different purposes.
Say, you want to game. Linux? Hahaha. No way.
But say you want a secure, no-nonsense OS with package management. Windows? Not likely. - srg13, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2Photoshop CS4 is actually looking pretty good. Check the AppDB.
http://appdb.winehq.org/ - int19h, on 04/13/2009, -0/+2Soon you won't even have to do that.
- inactive, on 04/11/2009, -0/+2lol step back and take a look at this.....
Jesus!

yeah mate, tough day huh? - asshankie, on 04/11/2009, -0/+2Actually, it's roughly every two weeks.
- darkuk, on 04/11/2009, -1/+2Office 2007 support would be fantastic, right now its a lemon in WINE
- srg13, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1It made it to 1.0 when it started running Photoshop really, really well... Clearly you're not trying hard enough...
- newbill123, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1Sorry, intended as a joke pointing out the language one finds when reading the Wine Bugzilla list has many superficial similarities to the terminology used in church when Easter approaches. Just tried to say something different than the typical "Yay!" and "Don't Bug Me!" comments about this Wine incremental release. Will know better next time.
- davidryderuk, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Actually there is office 2007 support in wine version 1.1.16. For some reason there has been a regression in more recent versions of wine though. Notable bugs in office 2007 include a couple of graphical glitches and inability to insert charts from excel. Other than that it's working pretty good on my Ubuntu computer. See the following two sites for more info.

- corytheboyd, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1obvious joke is obvious
- DAC1138, on 04/11/2009, -1/+1most windows apps I try and use with WINE are lemons. I still don't see how this made it to 1.0
- JosedeNoche, on 04/15/2009, -1/+0does it always have to be necesary to install Wine into mi Ubuntu?? i don't use it a lot...but if someboy could give me some tips about givin' it a good use, i would be gratefull
- bonerfide, on 04/11/2009, -2/+1CS3 support?
- ingotanarchist, on 04/12/2009, -1/+0The real question is, will it blend?
- blapierre, on 04/11/2009, -7/+2Then why do you want a program that implements the Win32 API?
- inactive, on 04/12/2009, -8/+1if i could play all my games on wine and all my programs on wine i would probably still buy windows. for $100 it's not a bad os at all. linux is still a mess imo
- twiztidsinz, on 04/11/2009, -11/+3OMG!!!!1!1!!1!!!1!!!
THIS IS SO GREAT!!!1!!!1!1!11!!!1!!!1
IT'S BEEN FOREVER SINCE THE LAST WINE RELEASE!!!!!11!!!!1!1!11!!1!!!1!!! - KineticShampoo, on 04/11/2009, -9/+1Meh. I just buried this ***** every time it pops up.
- Azathothh, on 04/12/2009, -9/+1all this trouble to get windows applications to work in Linux.... wouldn't be easier to just use Windows instead?
