- atdigg, on 02/23/2008, -1/+42Well that's the idea, people need applications not Windows.
- Sammi84, on 02/23/2008, -3/+41One small step for open source.
Wine 1.0 will be one giant leap for all software kind :D
(let's hope they get there within 5 years) - atdigg, on 02/23/2008, -0/+38First of all Wine is not going to bring Microsoft down.
Second, Microsoft != America.
Third, Americans use Wine just like everybody else, so? - gAquila, on 02/23/2008, -4/+42Great! Who needs Windows anymore?
- inactive, on 02/23/2008, -6/+42In other news, Beer 0.56.72 is cooling off in my fridge.

- dualscreenman, on 02/23/2008, -3/+29Oh, and 96 bugs until 1.0 (Down 1 since 0.9.55)
The 1.0 bug that was fixed caused Programmer's Notepad to freeze if you tried to load the Help files. - NOFXY, on 02/23/2008, -2/+24i cares
- TiMMY8765, on 02/23/2008, -0/+21one of the requirements for 1.0 is that it is able to run duke nukem forever flawlessly.
- Shiner6, on 02/23/2008, -1/+21Well tell me this Mr Grass Roots America. How come when I call Microsoft tech support I am sent over seas and forced to speak to a guy named "Michael" with an accent so heavy I can hardly understand him.
You are however right on one point; I don't do anything for Microsoft. But, why should I? What do they do for me other than cause countless hours of "IE hacks" when I build my websites. - daftman, on 02/23/2008, -6/+26And I should care about America because?
- TheZorch, on 02/23/2008, -0/+20Looks like the Anti-Linux turds are out in full force.
I love Wine!! I play Guild Wars on my Ubuntu 7.10 box with Wine everyday and it runs better on Linux than it does natively on Windows. That's sad. Wine still won't run Final Fantasy XI or the PlayOnline Viewer which is required to log into the game. SE did some funky ***** when they made the Windows version of the game. My friend and I suspect that its the PS2 version running in an emulation layer. I mean, graphically the game isn't that intense for a PC yet the FFXI engine runs slow all but the more recent systems. We also suspect that the 360 version is the PC version running in emulation also since the 360 version behaves exactly like the PC version. Anyway, my hope is that the money Google is pouring into the Wine project for improving Photoshop compatibility will also be put to use improving Wine in other areas as well. - 4DFX, on 02/23/2008, -3/+21Wine is simply amazing! I love it.
- kingofpenguins, on 02/23/2008, -3/+21It just keeps getting better! :)
- grimward, on 02/23/2008, -0/+17Ah yes, they're getting closer to a true DX substitute with every release, when they do, I'm jumping ship from MS. After the "look, DX10 is just DX9, but locked so you'll need vista!" debacle, I decided to migrate to linux when they'd gotten an acceptible support for gaming.
*raises wineglass* cheers! - yogiincork, on 02/23/2008, -1/+16WINE is not an ... oh ... nevermind
- dasunst3r, on 02/23/2008, -1/+16I care too, and so do every person who will digg you down.
- jacekpoplawski, on 02/23/2008, -0/+13One more time - thank you for Wine funding, Google.
- inactive, on 02/23/2008, -1/+14You shouldn't, I'm living in it, and I can't wait to move the ***** out of it.
- podgey22, on 02/23/2008, -0/+12Because it's awesome.
- inactive, on 02/23/2008, -1/+13Screw yourself. We don't care about what you care about, and quite frankly, If you were dead tomorrow i wouldn't care either.
- sq377, on 02/23/2008, -0/+11that assumes he is running ubuntu...
- humanerror, on 04/03/2008, -1/+12NO I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS IT TRUE THAT IS AMAZING THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME KNOW I WILL CLICK IMMEDIATELY AND I WILL ENTER MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER WHICH IS 16 DIGITS AND IS FOLLOWED BY AN EXPIRY DATE AND THERE IS A SECURITY CODE ON THE BACK WHICH I WILL ALSO ENTER OKAY I AM GOING NOW THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME ABOUT SUGAR MOMMIES DOT COM I WILL GO AND GET RICH WOMEN WHO IS SEEKING SOUL MATE WHICH CAN BE ME
- muep, on 02/23/2008, -0/+11What comes after 0.9.99?
Similar to what happened after 0.9.9. 0.9.10 came after it. Likewise, I think there will be a wine 0.9.100 and so forward, if Wine doesn't reach a 1.0 state before that.
Version numbers aren't decimal numbers. - 4DFX, on 02/23/2008, -0/+11I care.
And one of the reasons we digg it is that we enjoy seeing morons like yourself being irritated by this.
Looking forward to doing it again for v0.9.57! - vibrokatana, on 02/23/2008, -1/+11It is just a troll, you simply ignore them.
- vibrokatana, on 02/23/2008, -0/+10Don't forget all those wonderful licenses you paid for.
- Smegzor, on 02/23/2008, -0/+9I would say that Wine is a grass roots movement http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grass_roots
- mmmiiikkkeee, on 02/23/2008, -2/+11sorry if I am not as smart as you but I read your comment twice and I don't understand any thing beyond the first sentence. could some one more capable 'translate' this comment for me. I really don't understand this guy.
- mmmiiikkkeee, on 02/23/2008, -2/+11I CARE. and i listed it as my favorite. its front page since people "DIGG it"....
- DannyDaWriter, on 02/23/2008, -0/+9"0.56.72"? You must be drinking domestic.
- inactive, on 02/23/2008, -1/+10Well, that was quick. The .deb of 0.9.55 only hit the repositories a day or so ago.
- inactive, on 02/23/2008, -1/+9*sigh* Just when I get to thinking about getting 0.9.54 installed.
- bigsteve, on 02/23/2008, -0/+8I'm caring -right now-.
And I hope you can see this, because I'm doing it as hard as I can. - inactive, on 02/23/2008, -3/+11I beg to differ, but the current pattern points to 44 releases 'til 1.0.0.
- Carburetor, on 02/23/2008, -1/+9I care.
- mhearne, on 02/23/2008, -1/+9"Support those who made computers possible. Grass roots. America."
Umm... We are doing just that. Remember that Mr. Bill "borrowed" Dartmouth BASIC, which was NOT open-source. Go and read the RFCs, they don't begin in 1981, they begin in 1969, when Bill was still a school kid.
http://www.ietf.org/rfc.html - inactive, on 02/23/2008, -0/+7Who needed windows in the first place? Windows is only here because of clever marketing and OEMs. If Linux were to get full attention from the desktop world, and Microsoft was not there, there could be an entirely different situation.
Wine is just for when you absolutely need an application. So many things I'm willing to live without to run Linux or FreeBSD as it is. - srg13, on 02/23/2008, -1/+8I care - I'd much rather be running an open OS with one or two closed, proprietary applications than run them on a closed source OS that costs a lot more, and doesn't do anything more (or better).
- apzdsx, on 02/23/2008, -0/+7/circlejerk
- Beakerz, on 02/23/2008, -0/+6Not me! i finally made the complete flip from windows - was dual booting for a long time and just a couple of days ago i went all linux - yay! lovin' every minute of it, oh and wine is sexy. ;)
- inactive, on 02/23/2008, -0/+6You are a complete jackass. In every way possible.
- srg13, on 02/23/2008, -0/+6Yeah, that version was released two weeks ago, but I didn't get that package until this morning either.
- lenninct, on 02/23/2008, -2/+8why when you have OpenOffice available. :)
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+6Are you suggesting that win32 be integrated into the Linux kernel? It's not even integrated into the NT kernel!!
- Hellothere123, on 02/23/2008, -1/+7It always worked for me on wine.
- BastionPl, on 02/23/2008, -0/+6Wine 0.9.56 run Heroes of Might and Magic V, without any tricks (no require native directx installation)
http://jarzebski.pl/read/wine-heroes-of-might-and- ... - inactive, on 02/23/2008, -0/+6I care, your not important in the least so you have no say so.
