- Jorophose, on 12/15/2007, -2/+35Hells yeah! This is our way of thanks. Hopefully most of the users of Wine post in the AppDB to let the developpers know what works and what doesn't. So it's win-win for everyone.
- corteze, on 12/15/2007, -1/+33so many fell for that....

- ktkc7c, on 12/15/2007, -2/+20I have been an ubuntu user for about 2 weeks now. This article inspired me to install wine. After installing wine, I must say, its like having sex for the very first time, except in linux.

Hopefully that means that microphones now work in Counter-Strike Source. - yojiffyskippy, on 12/15/2007, -1/+13WINE IS NOT AN EM..... hey I see what you're doing there!
- Koushiro, on 12/15/2007, -1/+13We don't need to, no, but it helps to get the product more face time which is always important for a product like this.
- trogdoor, on 12/15/2007, -0/+10Not quite, it has always been about reimplementing API's, but it WAS originally called "WINdows Emulator" because, face it, that's what it does ( hear me out before flaming me to death ).
Wine emulates the functionality of the win32 API, it does so through native, original code, but it is emulation. The problem is that people hear the word emulation and assume it only refers to applications which emulate other processor architectures, which are unavoidably ( and usually unbearably ) slow. So to curb the confusion they changed the meaning of 'wine' to Wine Is Not an Emulator, which has just strengthened the false notion that emulator == CPU architecture emulator, but at least they are now supporting a misconception which doesn't hurt adoption of their program. - ceribik, on 12/15/2007, -2/+11Haha - so true. People are quite gullible these days.
- johnboyholmes, on 12/15/2007, -0/+9They are usually fortnightly.
- Garfunkel, on 12/15/2007, -2/+9Wine is getting awfully good. Won't be long now until 1.0 is done.

aka PORN WITH PLOT - ssam, on 12/15/2007, -1/+8only 84 bugs away from 1.0
http://bugs.winehq.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=ad ... - trogdoor, on 12/15/2007, -0/+6In fact it should be portable to windows even....
- zwaldowski, on 12/15/2007, -0/+5... Games?! 0_o
- sqrt7744, on 12/15/2007, -0/+5According to the wine devs it will never reach 1.0 because the windows platform is a moving target.
- DestroyFascism, on 12/15/2007, -0/+5No Computer? Hot chick? Pizza? I can't think of any other reason.....
- Ademan, on 12/15/2007, -0/+5New diggers could fall for it too, might as well straighten it out before misinformation spreads, no reason to bury it, but i'm kinda bugged the informative comments have been dugg down.
- inactive, on 12/15/2007, -2/+6Dugg.
- Ademan, on 12/15/2007, -0/+4It does. it's a compatibility layer for UNIX, specifically Linux, at least one BSD and OSX, although as far as I know OSX support is pretty shoddy, or if nothing else, miles behind linux and BSD compatibility, and i have no idea if OSX's relation to FreeBSD has anything to do with this.
- dinostabOMG, on 12/15/2007, -0/+4WINErs.
Ok sorry. - zzzpoohzzz, on 12/15/2007, -0/+3actually unless there are some big leaps and bounds it will be 0.9.100
the next version though... you would be right (unless its ready for final and goes to 1.0) - recoilfx, on 12/15/2007, -1/+4Is there up to date instructions for installing wine under mac os x?
- GreenAlien, on 12/15/2007, -0/+3"According to the wine devs it will never reach 1.0 because the windows platform is a moving target."
I was about to say, but then they'll run out of numbers. But nothing to stop them using 0.10.x and so on. - srg13, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2I'm pretty sure that Wine on Intel macs is the same as on Linux - you might have to run an X server though.
"In fact it should be portable to windows even...."
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group ... - TheWindBlows, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2source better not be outdated
- zzzpoohzzz, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1you can never run out of numbers! ;)
- georgevulov, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1For OS X
http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/ - sukimashita, on 12/15/2007, -0/+1I think the "diggin" of all "minor" updates of Wine is certainly a sign that it is maturing towards 1.0.
- sukimashita, on 12/15/2007, -0/+1Yes, it is fixed since last version already. There "might" be some minor issues if you are hosting games, everything else works again.
- inactive, on 12/15/2007, -0/+1Have they fixed the problem with Battle.net in WC3? Last I checked, it was still an outstanding issue. Diggs to anyone who lets me know as I can't install linux atm for certain reasons.
- Lounger540, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1They've changed their tune I guess, because they have a list of todo's for 1.0 status now.
