- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -7/+61Dugg as always, this belongs to the front page.
- Stemp, on 10/14/2007, -1/+48your knowledge of religious symbols sucks
- Stonekeeper, on 10/18/2007, -0/+34ok people. Before moaning about wine not supporting games, vote with your wallet. I know I make this appeal every time there's wine news but I also know that if everyone who uses or wants to use wine gave $10, then we'd all have what we want running on Linux in no time. (I'm not affiliated with wine in any way shape or form)
- byttle, on 10/13/2007, -6/+30windows still seems like a bug to me...when is that fix coming?
- SimonGray, on 10/13/2007, -0/+24If you add the official Wine repository, it usually only takes 1 or 2 days.
- SimonGray, on 10/13/2007, -1/+23Comment thieving bastard ;-)
- sint4x, on 10/14/2007, -0/+21Man, this is the second post in a row I have seen anmol2k4 get crap for his user symbol. Give it a rest
- andyakadum, on 10/13/2007, -4/+23comment buried (sorry)
- armo, on 10/18/2007, -0/+15done
- amfantasy, on 10/13/2007, -0/+14let the weekend begin
- SCVirus, on 10/13/2007, -0/+13your comment buried (rather neutral on the sorry front, am rather drowsy though)
- GMorgan, on 10/18/2007, -0/+13Another possibility. Set up a web site with your target app/game. Plenty have whined about PS CS2, set up a site, pledge $10 each and then set up a bounty for the game. Possibly contact the Wine team and ask them how much it would cost to get 'My favourite app' running. If somebody does it I'll happily donate $10 for Photoshop even if I don't use it just to shut people up ;) .
- ScornedPatriot, on 10/13/2007, -0/+13The Tahoma Replacement font as default means you shouldn't have to grab a Tahomo.ttf file from a windows install in order to use Steam and all related games through wine. Good Stuff, been waiting for a fix for that issue for awhile now, well done boys.
- RetroRufio, on 10/13/2007, -0/+11Dare to Dream...
- SteveMax, on 10/14/2007, -2/+12How fast is your computer? The time it will take depends on how long do you take to compile it.
- karenflower, on 10/13/2007, -5/+15I thought it was funny. :)
- clickwir, on 10/13/2007, -4/+13If you add the official Wine repository, it usually only takes 1 or 2 days.
- polyGone, on 10/13/2007, -0/+9buried your comment....a little bit sorry......
- Adahn, on 10/13/2007, -0/+8I guess the Tahoma font is to make take a few steps out of CS:S installs.
- clickwir, on 10/13/2007, -0/+8Lets hope this fixes the problems the last 2 versions created with Lotus Notes sametime not able to send whole messages.
People keep getting messages that look like this:
Them: How's it going, what you doing?
Me: Good,
Me:
Me: I
Me: 'm
Me: going
Me:
Me:
Me: t
Me: o t
Me: he store
Me: .
Them: What? - sirhomer, on 10/14/2007, -0/+8It's a old Buddhist/Hindu symbol predating the Nazis. Give it a rest.
- deadbaby, on 10/14/2007, -0/+7The way Microsoft keeps breaking compatibility it won't be long before WINE has better Windows support than Windows Vista+
- Gutterpunk, on 10/13/2007, -0/+6I don't even use Linux and I just donated. (hoping maybe that I'll be able to do the switch once wine supports what I need...)
Go Wine! - Lorian, on 10/13/2007, -0/+6Well it always makes it to the front page, which means people obviously want it submitted, and I just happen to usually be the first person to do so.
If you don't like it, ignore it. It's not that hard. - chaos386, on 10/14/2007, -0/+6"New scheme for OpenGL support in child windows."
^So does that mean Worms and Diablo can be run without the ddraw hack now? - Lorian, on 10/13/2007, -0/+5There is a bug report for that: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10000
- 1n4007, on 10/13/2007, -0/+5You can also help Wine by becoming an app maintainer or filing bugs.
I'm an maintainer myself and so far it's been fun helping people :) - Linuturk, on 10/13/2007, -0/+5OpenGL child windows is a problem that has plagued games for a while, from my understanding. Hopefully this allows me to run my favorite game Homeworld with fill acceleration!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeworld - Shootfast, on 10/14/2007, -0/+5It already does for a few legacy applications I have
- Ademan, on 10/13/2007, -0/+4Also steam, it's a MAJOR pain in the ass really. Well, wine-doors takes care of it for you now. But i'm actually really excited for the replacement font.
- zeroepoch, on 10/14/2007, -5/+9If you add the official Wine repository, it usually only takes 1 or 2 days. :)
- thtroyer, on 10/13/2007, -0/+4That was the funniest thing I've seen all day...
...
Man, my life is dull. - inactive, on 10/13/2007, -0/+4i think it also means Hammer (3d level editor) can be run in wine now
- HonoredMule, on 10/14/2007, -1/+5For pete's sake, the thing only barely resembles the Nazi anti-swastika. It's over-zealous ***** like what anmol2k4's avatar attracts that make me want to use that pic too, just to defy their arbitrary self-superiority and rub it in their faces.
- HonoredMule, on 10/13/2007, -0/+3Digg is turning into a press release platform. One could complain, but there isn't really a problem, because really digg is working as it should, and most Linux news just happens to be tiny blurbs like this.
- andyakadum, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I have that game for windows 3.1 back in the day. Never worked though. Whats it like?
- jcronkhite, on 10/13/2007, -0/+3The cool thing is when someone who might be a new convert to Linux sees WINE on the front page and diggs deeper. That's how I discovered it when I was new to Linux. I digg it every time just to make sure another Linux noob becomes aware of it. I do this in the hopes that they don't abandon Linux because they can't live without Windows. WINE helps this a lot. So I say keep digging it to home. Who's it hurting anyway? Just read past it to the next article. If that one doesn't look good to you then move down yet again. Does it really matter?
- ispshadow, on 10/13/2007, -0/+3Well, it seems a LOT of people are interested in each release....just like me.
Want to be buried? If you wish... - vickers500, on 10/21/2007, -2/+5He was rigiht.
- Megatog615, on 10/13/2007, -0/+2Homeworld's source code was released under a restricted license for educational purposes only. However, if you build your own you can share it. There is as you guessed it a Linux port to SDL because of this. It's not stable yet but it's coming along.
- HonoredMule, on 10/14/2007, -0/+2Actually, it's just a plain and simple swastika. The Nazi symbol is a BACKWARDS, simplified swastika with the dots removed, turned 45 degrees, and was an intentional hijacking/perverting of the symbol's meaning. Before you go on a self-righteous rant and/or make a slew of dumbass assumptions about either anmol or someone who (gasp) defends his completely innocent avatar, make sure you actually know what the ***** you're talking about.
There are appropriate times to censor someone. Personal offenses based on fools' misperceptions don't qualify. - drzeus, on 10/13/2007, -0/+2I'm starting to enjoy seeing every release of Wine on Digg. I read the comments every time just to see half the people defend its front page worthiness and the other half complaining and ranting about it.
- Stonekeeper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think this is a task for the Wine devs. Having such a site on winehq would give it more credibility.
- polyGone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I wish I could play the CS3 game on it ;)
- Ademan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well the problem with what you're mentioning is it encourages cheap hacks like cedega does, not that it would happen for sure, but it would encourage it.
- wiihuck, on 10/14/2007, -0/+1i wish slingplayer worked better with wine. as is, it's a little dicey...
- Linuturk, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1I know about the project, but I figured it was long dead. I haven't seen activity on their forums for a while.
- Stonekeeper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn comment system! CS2 is done: http://luiscosio.com/how-to-adobe-photoshop-cs2-on ...
- Dylan47, on 10/13/2007, -1/+2you just aren't meant for linux...
- Icetype, on 10/14/2007, -4/+4How long until Ubuntu gets it?
