- jwyles, on 10/12/2007, -25/+4Yay, Digg now updates me with insignificant point releases! I am so excited I peed a few droplets in my shorts!!! </sarcasm>
- damentz, on 10/12/2007, -18/+3jfkdlsajfklds bury.
- habitat2050, on 10/12/2007, -14/+2wrong topic. Digg me down.
- RevChris, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21I sure hope this will Fix my problems with WoW and Eve , either by making them work flawlessly in d3d mode or at all in opengl (I have an ati card and for some reason I cant get opengl games to start at all in linux)
WoW and eve working in linux is the only thing stopping me from throwing out my Windows install..- chrono13, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25Might want to look into a generic Nvidia. Lower end Nvidia's can perform better, and work correctly more often, in Linux than ATI.
The Franklin fix sucks, but I don't need to tell you that ATI refuses to support Linux.
I don't think any version of Wine will fix your issue. A well-developed Linux driver from ATI would, but that isn't going to happen : ( - RevChris, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11@chrono13
Yea , an ATI driver with AIGLX support and better OpenGl support would fix the issues it's not Wine's fault , the guys at Wine make a fantastic program and most of the things I like to use with it (uTorrent for example) work straight out of the box.
Ati is also late this month with their new catalyst release , I watch the feeds intensly for good news from the ati people, but if I had 5$ for everytime I was disappointed by the lack of linux support in the catalyst releases , I'd have enough for an Nvidia card by now ;) - kelvie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I actually am in the same conundrum... although when I set my resolution in WoW to be 1024x768 or under, it works fine -- but there's just not enough space for everything.
Also, there's a huge FPS hit compared to when I run it in Windows, which I suspect is because of the superior drivers.
Let's just hope AMD will show the Linux users some more love since they have acquired ATI now (and have shown a history of acceptance for *NIX users).

- Protoss, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12w00t! I hope this fixes Counter-Strike Source lagging whenever a flashbang is thrown :P
- Ademan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Wait, you have that problem as well? I had assumed it was because my 3d card was broken (my comp got dropped, long story), well i don't doubt that it is, but if it's not my card's fault, that kind of gives me a little hope.
- Ratteler, on 10/12/2007, -29/+6Let me know when Adobe CS2 Suite works. Thanks.
- DoodlesMcPooh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25@ Ratteler
It already does.
I looked on google and these are the results.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=adobe+cs2+linux&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=com.ubuntu:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
there seem to be various ways of getting it to work all quite simple. - sishgupta, on 10/12/2007, -14/+6@rat
Real ***** insightful. Did you come up with that witticism yourself or did you grab it from one of the other wine release diggs?
Someone always says it, guess this time its you. - WaterSoul, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18@Ratteler
http://26bits.com/2007/photoshop-cs2-on-linux-ubuntu/
this was on Digg last week - Ratteler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Maybe all my critis should try reading. I didn't say PHOTOSHOP CS2. I said ADOBE CS2 Suite.
That includes...
# Adobe Photoshop CS2
# Adobe Illustrator CS2
# Adobe InDesign CS2
# Adobe GoLive CS2
# Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
# Version Cue CS2
# Adobe Bridge
# Adobe Stock Photos
Although for all I care you can stop after InDesign.
Inkscape is coming along, but it's still a very pale comparison to Illustrator. Which is withough a doubt the best Structured art program ever.
Haven't really checked out scribus yet, but in DTP even Indesign is number 2 to Quark... Although for freelance work I prefer it.
Photoshop is NOT the only product produced by Adobe. In fact... if I had to choose only 1 Adobe app, it would be Illustrator.
Thanks to those who actually posted links to info. I'll be giving the Portable Photoshop a try and seeing if I can replicate that with Illustrator.

- euphemizeme, on 10/12/2007, -35/+3Sounds like an awesome program, but when are they going to come out with a Windows version?
- wolf08, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Guess what... there IS a windows version! I know, isn't that just great! Head over to http://www.winehq.com/site/download and look near the bottom.
Oh, and for the sarcasm? It's not funny. - eqisow, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21pwned!
(Please dig down my comment as it adds no value to the conversation) - Xenogis, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2This has to be the funniest digg comment ever.
- sirhomer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Actually the Windows version isn't a joke. There are a lot of Windows programs that WON'T run in Windows without Wine! IE1 for example :)
Wine is actually pretty useful for Windows users too. - Philluminati, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's the funniest thing i've seen all day. A Windows Version of a Windows Emulator thats not an emulator.

- lillepalle, on 10/12/2007, -18/+3do you want some cheese with that WHINE?
- superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4How would one go about building this for OSX? the darwine builds are 0.9.1
- Mejogid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4You can get 0.9.27 at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=69890. I'm not sure how 3D & audio support are going right now though, since I'm mostly running linux on my macbook right now.
[anal] And it's actually 0.9.10 [/anal] - superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4thats only PPC
- thtroyer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2You could try Crossover. Crossover is related to wine (maybe a branch?) and has Mac and Linux versions. I have no actual experience running it (I just run wine in Ubuntu), but it is usually considered to be a nicer version of wine. It is proprietary and non-free, but if it works, it would be worth the price.
- Sicarul, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Crossover is Wine with some extra stuff like pre-made configurations for some applications and it isn't propietary, it's commercial Open Source, you CAN download the source. Though, they could just distribute the source to only the ones who pay and, if i didn't misunderstand the GPL, it would be legal.
- Mejogid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4You can get 0.9.27 at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=69890. I'm not sure how 3D & audio support are going right now though, since I'm mostly running linux on my macbook right now.
- schoate09, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2OS X builds have to be recompiled for cocoa or carbon. Not too hard. The x86 implementation is easier, as it can be a direct port. The PowerPC is just a waste, because it's a Windows API that only runs, POWERPC WINDOWS APPS? WTFASDFJKL;
- Megatog615, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Eh, I stopped reading at "The PowerPC is just a waste". Your post almost seemed useful.
- xptweakerntn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2has anyone yet been able to "automatically" update wine in ubuntu dapper drake?
- Megatog615, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4If you add the official Wine repositories to your /etc/apt/sources.list, and add the key, you can get it when it gets into the official repository, which is quicker than waiting for it to be in the official Ubuntu repositories. Instructions can be found on their site.
Unfortunately it's not in the official Wine repository yet.

- BenHanby, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I looked through the 12 pages of updates since version 0.9.30, and still have little idea what I can do now that I couldn't do before.
Is there a change log for simpletons such as myself? What can I do with WINE 0.9.31 that I couldn't do with 0.9.30?- srg13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's basically a whole lot of bugfixes, with some DirectX speed improvements.
- nutsackninja, on 10/12/2007, -21/+1wow another linux crapola article.
make an "add/remove programs" program and then i would be impressed instead of having to guess where the F*** out of 100,000 directories my program just got installed to.
Oh yeah a desktop or menu icon wouldn't kill you either.
until linux can do that who cares.- theWrkncacnter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Guess who has no idea what he's talking about? ^^
I wish wine would make 64 bit binaries. I compiled it from source with 32 bit libraries, but it was such a pain to do. - n3xg3n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Hey NutSack:
here is a screenshot (among many) of Ubuntu's GRAPHICAL (not apt-get via command line because we all know text is too ***** confusing for you) Add/Remove Programs app:

Have a wonderful day enslaved in Redmond
=] - BlackAdderIII, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7You make it clear you have ever used Linux in your life. Way to go you punditry dynamo you.
- andycr512, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Even if your argument were valid (and it is not), It's better than trying to remove all traces of a Windows application from the registry.
- Philluminati, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@ nutsackninja
We got an add and remove programs program you *****. We got like TEN, and each one is packed with 1000's of apps waiting to be installed. You don't have to download installers from all over the show that dump DLL's is ***** unknown places that then require a reboot.
We don't hate you because you use Windows, we hate you because your a ignorant and stupid ***** with absolutely no technical ability what so ever. We don't want your "two cents" if it even amounts to that in future.
- theWrkncacnter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Guess who has no idea what he's talking about? ^^
- launchpadtt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow. That is a crapload of bugfixes.
