- Vich, on 10/11/2007, -6/+183It's a great system update: it fixes most of the bugs present in windows and adds some extra functionality.
- justnick, on 10/11/2007, -3/+115I like how they have it in "BIOS & System Update Downloads".
- Phocion55, on 10/11/2007, -7/+112Why would they take it down?
It's currently the highest rated product on their site. :) - DigitalJester, on 10/11/2007, -4/+102"Supported OS

I don't think they understand how this whole thing works... - Mhykol, on 10/11/2007, -5/+99Ahha! I finally found the hotfix for my windows vista laptop
- rcsheets, on 10/28/2007, -6/+80What do you mean? Ubuntu can replace any of those. :-)
- Vich, on 10/11/2007, -7/+73Ubuntu IS Debian
- bovester, on 10/11/2007, -0/+63What I especially like is that they have a direct link to the .iso download. No jumping through ANY hoops or searching for the right distro etc. Great way to get it out there.
- archer75, on 10/11/2007, -6/+64You mean like 7.04, 6.10, 6.04, 5.10, 5.04, etc? Kbuntu, unbutu christian edition, edubuntu and so on?
- michnaugh1, on 10/11/2007, -2/+57"Number of Downloads: 10,988"
Does this figure represent that almost 11k people downloaded Ubuntu from Windows Marketplace? If so, why in the world are people downloading Ubuntu from there?
Weird. Linux on Windows Marketplace. I don't know what's going on anymore. - underdog5004, on 10/11/2007, -1/+53I wonder how long it'll be until they take it down.
I wonder if they will ban people who put links to ubuntu (or other versions of linux) on the marketplace... - Miche1987, on 10/11/2007, -2/+53But there will be the obligatory idiots...
"Oh, so THIS is where I find the Windows version!" - epohs, on 10/11/2007, -7/+55It's a trap!
- troydoogle7, on 10/11/2007, -5/+52~Just by viewing that page, you have breached a microsoft patent...
- sirdaz, on 10/11/2007, -8/+53And thats got something to do with Ubuntu being hosted on the Windows Marketplace... how?

- omarciddo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+38Forgive me for not knowing any better, but is the Marketplace mainly Microsoft-generated, user-generated, or both?
- Adrianc333, on 10/11/2007, -4/+38I hate people that try to act all leet, and post PHP Code/snippets in Digg Comments, yet still manage to ***** it up.
- flukierdonut, on 10/11/2007, -2/+34i love the first guys comment especially the con part about windows "power users" lol
- AshUK, on 10/11/2007, -6/+35hbndonut, you can find the answers to all of your questions by visiting http://www.google.com. I'm not sure if you have heard of it, but you can find some really good answers to questions like yours that have been asked many times before.

- shavenlunatic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14surely "sheeping" would be just using the OS that is handed on a plate to you and not questioning if there is anything better than that out there (MacOS/Linux/Whatever)
- notantspants, on 10/11/2007, -6/+19No matter what your camp is, that is just toooooooooooooooooooo funny!!
- GMorgan, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16"OK, sorry for this slightly off topic comment... but I have some questions.
I have an XP laptop... I am thinking about converting to Ubuntu as I hear nothing but good things about it. BUT I have a lot of programs that I dont know if they are compatable. Such as FL Studio, Photoshop, Avast antivirus etc. Will they all work on Ubuntu?
And if I have files such as .wmv .png etc. will they all still work with Ubuntu?"
You don't need anti-virus on Linux right now but there are free anti-virus packages out there, no Avast but AVG runs on Linux. The only purpose of anti-virus on Linux is to protect Windows boxes upstream though. In a corporate environment using a Linux mail server with an anti virus sorting out the Windows viruses before forwarding the messages upstream is common practice.
Photoshop? Generally I'd say no but there are some reports of CS2 running on Wine.
FL Studio. No idea.
.png is a standard first pushed by the OSS community to replace .gif (originally it stood for PNG's Not GIF). Works fine on any Linux distro. WMV depends on the distro. Linspire will run it fine out of the box, Ubuntu might run it now via their codec installer, all distros that support CnR will be able to run it once it is ready but you may have to pay for the privilege. - fires, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14@hbndonut
I've tried to run FL Studio through wine.
I't installs and I can start the app, but there's no sound. I didn't try to tweak anything to make it work.
.wmv will work with the right codecs and .png works natively. - martinoconnor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Does this make Microsoft a distributer of a Linux distribution?
- kd5owo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14Is the site made up of user content or is it made up of what Microsoft actually wants to put online? I would imagine if a user put it up it would be down very quickly. Perhaps one fo the Microsoft employees trying to be funny? Umm... very interesting.
- imacashew, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13To make a statement.
- imacashew, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12this isn't a dell website...so no.
- cptn_cardboard, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Hes right, though. Most people who call themselves "computer guys" will get into a linux environment and have no idea whats going on. Its because they're not "computer guys", they're "windows guys."
- starsky51, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Good idea: http://wubi-installer.org/
Come on Ballmer, pull your finger out! - GMorgan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11But they are trying to be authentic by posting ***** up code. Any one who has seen the Windows NT leak a while back knows that this is the true way of things. Posting semantically correct code would just seem artificial. I bet you are one of those weird people who do things like coding edge cases first and other good practices.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14@hbndonut i'll try to give you something a little more useful I'm not technical but have been on dual boot with Ubuntu and XP for a few months now. With the latest version 7.04 most of your office documents, videos pictures etc will have an equivalent application either installed or it's ridiculously easy to install for free using the in built application insallers (yep there are 2). As far as Avast anti-virus it won't work and there are very few AV products for Linux - Clam is a free one but to be frank you don't really need AV installed as there are so few viruses in the wild for Linux.
So download the CD (you need a .iso CD burner) and give it a go - most of the applications are on the CD.
D - Ninjab3ar, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Best windows update Ive ever downloaded. My computer runs way faster and it deleted all of my viruses.
- pardonmedoug, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11extraaaa voooowels are fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun!
- stmiller, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9"you clearly have not used 90% of Photoshop's features."
Take it easy there cowboy. People just want to be able to do some basic editing. GIMP does that for the 99% of us. For the average user, the word Photoshop = image editing. In other words, people are asking, 'what's a program that can do image editing?' -
