- madwaxer, on 11/08/2008, -0/+1i think as tools make creating our own linux packages easier we will all eventually begin to roll out our own custom OSs for specific devices. Cell phone, (cars, aircraft, boats) control systems-fly-by-wire, ad-hoc radar scaning over fiber for the military, etc.

Let me preface by saying I like Linux.
In 1993 Microsoft release the first NT system after about 5 years of development.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_NT%29 Some lucky home users got there first taste of NT another five year on with windows 2000.(lucky as compared to ME users) So one might expect Microsoft to be able to push a new OS into the home market in about a decade.(actual results may vary)
