- Cupantae, on 11/30/2008, -2/+9It's quicker than photoshop and runs perfectly on cheaper hardware, it has all the functionality I need, it's free, it's open source, it has a huge range of extensions and scripts.
I'm going to bury this as inaccurate.
Also...digging your own site...kinda lame... - 4DFX, on 11/30/2008, -2/+8I used Gimp on windows before I switched to Linux.
- weizbox, on 11/30/2008, -0/+4This article is about Windows and Apple, as Photoshop is mentioned, and it runs on both, but not well past CS2 on Linux. Didn't you see the image?
- tvanwyk, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3Well, unfortunately, WINE isn't fully functional with all Windows apps. Sometimes it doesn't run Windows apps properly. I can't directly comment about Photoshop specifically (GIMP is plenty for my needs), but playing the WINE trump card is not the best way to respond to a criticism that software X cannot be run on Linux - sometimes WINE just isn't sufficient for certain Linux users.
- depro9, on 11/30/2008, -1/+4What tard does not know about wine?
- Cupantae, on 11/30/2008, -1/+3*facepalms*
- Dailydose4me, on 11/30/2008, -1/+3hahah non sense !
- tvanwyk, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2Ooh. The almighty Google. Google told me to try WINE. I did. I found out it doesn't work worth ***** half the time. WINE can be very flaky with Windows apps rated even as "gold" on WINE's database. WINE's getting better, and its devs do great work (considering the tall order of making Windows software run on an alien platform), but it's still too hit and miss to be a bulletproof trump card.
WINE's ***** does stink. And yes, I've used it, so I know - sometimes it Just Doesn't ***** Work (tm) (or works with crippled functionality and/or massive performance hits), on several distros, with apps supposedly rated as "gold" on the DB.
Thanks for playing. Fire again.
PS - How often do you hear of enterprises using WINE to run mission-critical Windows apps? - depro9, on 11/30/2008, -1/+2Wine runs Photoshop perfectly Google made sure to that. Playing the wine card works perfect when the joke is Linux users can run Photoshop. Thanks for playing you lose.
- Sublex, on 11/30/2008, -4/+3THAT'S A LIE!
- inactive, on 11/30/2008, -5/+2So, what you're saying is there is a Linux version of Adobe Photoshop that DOESN'T require buggy software like Wine to run it?
Sure is news to me.... - RedTroll, on 11/30/2008, -7/+1They prefer it for the same reason cripples prefer wheelchairs
- inactive, on 11/30/2008, -7/+1This isn't about Windows. It's about people who run Linux and use Gimp.
