There are Macs, Linux system builders, ebay, local neighbourhood nerd. People get Windows because they know how to use Windows and, unlike lifeless hacks like you, realize it is *just* an operating system. Linux isn't right for everyone. You may enjoy it, but that doesn't mean my grandparents will.

With the great online community, Ubuntu or Kubuntu should be the leading choices but fedora core would also be a good distro. - schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1They are probably teasing again. Dell and H-P are at a PR battle. Don't get your hopes high. The secret OEM contracts pretty much suppress this, if not forbid it altogether. And then there are explicit /threats/ and scare tactics, e.g.

The day people are not /forced/ to get Windows is the day when it'll all be over, gradually. Microsoft won't give up without a fight, but if only there was regulation or transparency. The contracts are doctored in a mafia-like fashion.
