On the other hand, practically anyone can pick a Vista DVD and install it in about one hour. Does this make Vista a better product? No, but it makes Vista easier to use, even if it’s more bloated, slower and buggier."
Uhm.. No.. I don't see any aunt or grandmother picking up any Windows version and installing it. Seriously. Ubuntu Install is much easier than that initially.
No again.. Not everyone go installing vista. In fact, more people would go through installing Ubuntu and even more with greater distributions like PCLinuxOS. And another fact is that GNU/Linux distributions come with way more drivers than window does say a lot about out of the box compability. And in general after out of box, GNU/Linux have more drivers out there still than Windows.
Just my 2 cents - VIrus9, on 04/26/2008, -0/+4FTA- "One issue I ran into was that I had to install proprietary drivers for my video card (Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS). This took a bit of tweaking (open terminal, close X server, run the install script as sudo, etc.), and since I am relatively new to the Ubuntu world, I had to spend a little time researching and learning how to do it."
It would have been a whole lot easier to just use the restricted drivers manager. Two clicks and it's done. - armo, on 04/26/2008, -1/+1This is one of the problems windows users have though. They're so used to having to install drivers by going to the manufacturers website downloading and installing they don't think about this thing that pops up telling them restricted drivers are available, click here to install them.
