- Chernevog, on 10/11/2007, -2/+37Wow this is both a helping hand and a slap in the face for Hans, I guess you need to have a sense of humor though.
- TheOther1, on 10/11/2007, -5/+39Reiser - a KILLER filesystem
- schestowitz, on 10/11/2007, -5/+38Silly people. Hans has not been convicted, so wait for the trial to end before making accusations for cheap humour. FWIW, Hans' financial manager, who also had an affair with Hans' wife, has recently confessed to killing 8 (and maybe 9) people. This complicated the case despite all the evidence that the police has.
The bottom line is that this case is not a trivial one anymore. Be patient and stop jumping the gun. SCO is not dead yet, either. - dysfirkin, on 10/11/2007, -3/+26Innocent until proven guilty. If I remember correctly, there is more than one person missing in this case. Free Hans!!!
- inkyblue2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22i think you made a misteak.
- GMorgan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+23It should say FSCKing kill you. Firstly because it fits. Secondly because I'm not going to walk through the centre of my town with ***** written on my top. I'd buy one otherwise.
- jtkooch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21While I'm all for innocent until proven guilty, this is certainly one of those cases where I wouldn't want to throw my support one way or another. Wired has a great article about this mess:
http://www.wired.com/techbiz/people/magazine/15-07/ff_hansreiser - icu_, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21Hans shot first
- jdepp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12Reiser is innocent until proven guilty - There is another potential suspect who knew Reiser's wife and has confessed to the murder of seven (apparently more according to schestowitz) other women - it's not an open and shut case against Reiser by any means, so have some respect FFS.
- TheOther1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11His wifes lover admited to killing 8 people, I think.
- jonnyeh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11But he won't say who. The fact that Hans hung out with a weirdo that claims he killed 8 people (with no proof) doesn't do good for his character. Everyone in this story is really messed up.
- Novagenesis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Burn at the steak? Would that be a T-Bone or a Rib Eye?
- Phssthpok, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Innocent until proven guilty doesn't mean he's innocent. If you read the article in Wired, you would have been disturbed as I was about these two passages:
Police search the CRX and find that the front passenger seat has recently been removed. The floor is soaked, as if it had been washed. There are heavy-duty garbage bags, cloth towels, masking tape, and two books: Masterpieces of Murder and Homicide. Police also find another drop of blood and match it to Nina.
and
I'm thinking, "Where is the front passenger seat of your car?" He has never explained this. It seems a fundamental hole in his defense.
I'm all for helping a man out who seems innocent. But this man seems guilty. - jhuebel, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10Are you people INSANE? These T-shirts show a complete lack of respect for the victims. Whether Hans did it or not (I think he did), there are still innocent people who lost their lives. These t-shirts are disgusting.
I guess there's no "diggers have fallen to a new low" option to bury a post. I'll just have to mark it as lame. - kinghajj, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Of course, because the police always arrest the right guy the first time. Hell, if they arrested him, he MUST be guilty, no? So why even have the trial? Lets just kill him now. (Because killing is OK when the state does it.)
- NinjaBoy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I love how now people are all don't judge him until trial (the way i feel too) but 99% of the time diggers hear ***** like "guy may have killed wife" and people are ready to just burn them at the steak right then and there.
- bias, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7what if he really killed his wife?
- paradexes, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6He is the OJ of the geek world. All joking aside there is an awful lot of evidence that at the very least shows he was somehow involved even if he did not pull the trigger. BUT He could have easily been framed as well. The media may also be as usual spinning it for dramatic effect.
- acidkore, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9This guy really went above and beyond the call of duty to free up enough time to get his filesystem ready for the mainstream kernel.
- spyd3rweb, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7"Use Microsoft or I will F'in kill you" - Steve Ballmer
- jhuebel, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Someone pointed out that it hasn't been proven that someone died (there's just a missing person), but that seems to be a technicality to me.But yeah, you're right. These shirts are in extremely poor taste. Anyone who buys one should be ashamed. There are better ways to donate than buying this crap. How about donating to the education fund of the Reiser children? You can do so at this address:
6114 LaSalle Ave No. 127
Oakland, CA 94611 - OneAndOnlySnob, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Wow.. I'm speechless. This is in really poor taste. Are we forgetting that someone died? Some kids don't have a mommy anymore? We don't know who the killer is?
- Tippis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Nonono... "Steak" is what you get *after* you burn him...
- GMorgan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I hope he is innocent. It would be really nice to see a stable version of Reiser4. Insane as it is.
- HanSolo69, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5You had me worried that the shirts actually said "F'n".
- TheOther1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Download the cotton fiber source and compile it yourself.
tar -xvzf free_hans_shirt.tgz
cd free-hans-shirt/
./configure
make
make test (optional)
make install - eightyd, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6How can that financial friend say "oh, and by the way I've killed half a dozen people" and get away with it. Is he James Bond?!
Hilarious T Shirts, by the way. I'd buy one but then no one would know what it was about, and I'd have to kill them for knowing too much if they did. - ToddFFW, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5But reiserfs doesn't require FSCK....
- nerdtek, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Should have a picture of Kim Jong Il saying "How you like me now Hans Reiser?!" With Inspect This! on the back.
- spootmonkey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4The article about this in Wired this month was great. You can't know for sure, but I think he's guilty. The drops of blood you could look over because they couldn't say how old they were. But the missing car, washed floor, front seat gone, and the crazy stuff in the truck...you can't look past that.
I loved the bits of code in the article as well.. It fit well and was fun to read if you code at all. - jouissance, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3groooooooooan. but yeah, it is.
- jhuebel, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4You know, at some point, logic has to dictate that drops of blood plus a missing person (who the blood came from) equals a victim. It doesn't matter who the victim is, if Hans committed the crime or even if there was a murder at all. These t-shirts are still disgusting.
- theOster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3i dont know...everyone associated with this guys is a kook
- Solkre, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3My kid hit me in the nose the other day playing and it was bleeding; if I decided to take a trip to Russia does that mean I'm dead too?
Drops of blood aren't pools of blood and aren't indications of a murder. Forgive me for leaking but I bleed drops of blood a few times every year for various reasons. This can include the car.
The most damming evidence on him in my eyes is not explaining what he's doing with that car, drops of blood can come from anything. And even not explaining the car is nothing to convict a man of murder for. - theOster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3yeah, everyone involved is nuts
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3if he gets it
which i doubt - shadowspawn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I came here for a Free Hat and free source.
- OneAndOnlySnob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I doubt his guilt. The man Nina Reiser was having an affair with turned out to use drugs, enjoy sadomasochism, and recently confessed to killing about 8 people, and is known to have a grudge against Hans. To me, he seems to fit the killer profile than Hans.
- Hush, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Read the link....
- jhuebel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I don't live in California. I live in Texas. I got the address from an article somewhere that discussed how to help the kids with their education.
- rlowe1980, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2OK, so i'm gonna go to "free Pimp C" to "free Hans" huh?
but uh, yeah, reiser is nice - shawnz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2that wired article played out like a book. everyone involved in this mess is ***** insane.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I dunno, I have a really sweet CKY shirt that says "fu CKY ou" and I hardly ever get bothered by people over it. And I live in Texas, which is chock full of religiosity and gun-toting rednecks. I guess it just depends on how willing you to not give a fsck whether complete strangers have a high/low opinion of you.
- Solkre, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Uhh.. who lost their life? Show me in the article where they KNOW someone is dead (crazy 8 murder guy claims not included).
- Trepan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Just because someone is stupid/crazy enough to say they murdered some people doesn't mean that he/she actually did murder anyone. They'd still have to prove that there's some validity to the claim by checking missing persons reports and unsolved cases against his claims. If he said he did in x number of people but didn't even know their names, it might make it hard to figure out the details.
Also, he could just be making it up. Some people do things like that for the attention (no idea why) - InsaneOni, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Sorry, but that's not a CRX seat...CRX seats are way nicer :)
- felchdonkey, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I'd donate if it were a fund to find his missing wife, alive or dead, and solve the case.
That way if he *is* innocent, it would clear him, and if he's guilty, we didn't just put a bunch of money towards defending a criminal. - uzytkownik, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Ok, Thanks. I've read.
- NuttyAvatar, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3ReiserFS is definitely a killer. It is bound to kill you some day or the other. Just wait for a power glitch and you are dead.
- uzytkownik, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1> FWIW, Hans' financial manager, who also had an affair with Hans' wife, has recently confessed to killing 8 (and maybe 9) people.
Could you give a source of information? I'm subscribing many F/OSS related feeds and looking for any piece of information but last sure information was about his arresting. -
