Ubuntu Xorg update breaks X on some hardware

enterprise.linux.com — RC channels, LUG mailing lists, and Ubuntu wikis were buzzing with the news this morning that a recent Ubuntu Xorg update (xorg-server 1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10.3) crashes the X Window System on some video hardware. When X is restarted following installation, affected Ubuntu users get a "no screens found" error message instead of X.

  • dukeinlondon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It should hit Linux vendors at some point that they have to narrow down what hw is supported, if only a little otherwise they'll always have this sort of breaks on some less common hw discovered in the wild.... Not ideal.
