- Rawler, on 10/17/2007, -2/+25wow, a search engine is down... weakk
- furntree, on 10/15/2007, -1/+24there is also http://www.google.com/linux
- martalli, on 10/15/2007, -2/+14No wonder ubuntu has gotten so popular. Remember Ubuntu's original "scandalous" wallpaper with the three naked models?
- skyshock1, on 10/15/2007, -0/+9We already have a website that does that! You can find it here - http://www.digg.com
- capiCrimm, on 10/15/2007, -0/+8Gates, Jobs, and Linus?
- theaceoffire, on 10/14/2007, -1/+9Don't forget to try searching for:
(tutorial|help|"step by step"|walkthrough) (ubuntu|linux) My problem
That normally fixes my problem. - P373Y, on 10/15/2007, -0/+7this thing searches nothing like its nobody's business.
- mrjeffery, on 10/15/2007, -3/+9Does anyone else on Digg click a story on the frontpage then quickly scroll down while the link is loading to try and read the stories you havent read yet?
- arghhhhhh, on 10/15/2007, -0/+6http://images.google.com/images?q=ubuntu-calendar& ...
- DomZy, on 10/15/2007, -2/+8It's down, but I'm guessing it just appends "ubuntu" to whatever keywords you enter?
- WhereAmI, on 10/15/2007, -1/+6No, link me.
- suppressingfire, on 10/15/2007, -0/+4isn't uboontu.com better?
- Stemp, on 10/15/2007, -0/+4Google Custom Search :http://www.google.com/coop/cse/
- Motocompo, on 10/14/2007, -0/+4You would like us to do that wouldn't you....
- spinningobo, on 10/14/2007, -1/+5Actually, google's linux search is as old as the search engine. Literally.
Via 1999: http://web.archive.org/web/19990117032727/http://w ...
(check out the bottom left) - inactive, on 10/15/2007, -2/+5This is almost as bad as when I discovered the website http://www.gnaa.us
- ileftfark, on 10/14/2007, -0/+3Nice find! As a Linux nub, I have to search to accomplish the most simple of tasks yet. Luckily, the open-source community is filled with knowledgeable and helpful people who will take the time to explain how to extract, executive, and run a tarball. Funny how people are so much more helpful when there's a worthy goal in mind.
- zabouth, on 10/15/2007, -0/+3Or there is this feature in google where you put a word in like say Ubuntu and then what you want to know lets say "cron setup"
EG 'Ubuntu "Cron setup"' and you get cron setup for Ubuntu amazing. - uthreek, on 10/15/2007, -2/+5Looks like Ballmer has got a digg account finally and made his way to posting here through all those security warning messages...
- skyer2000, on 10/15/2007, -1/+3So someone spends 3 minutes on http://www.google.com/coop and makes a domain name. What is the big deal?
- Tanath, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2You can use the tilde (~) to simplify those queries, like this:
~guide ~ubuntu [problem keywords here]
The tilde searches for synonyms, so ~guide will search for help, how-to, tutorial, etc. - RTFishUL, on 10/14/2007, -1/+3...what? That didn't even make sense, you're just spitting out words that dont mean anything.
- Quilby, on 10/15/2007, -1/+3You can get much more support on ubuntuforums.org than you would on any microsoft help site.
BTW, vista is *****. - Hermitwise, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2No the ad is for your website.
- datagod, on 10/14/2007, -0/+2I love CSE. Lets you do cool stuff like: http://sqlhunter.com which allows people to be able to search for SQL stuff, without always having to type in extra search phrases.
- Megatog615, on 10/15/2007, -1/+2Er, why does it use Javascript? All I want are search results...
- LLauranzonIII, on 10/14/2007, -0/+1http://www.google.com/linux
- cawpin, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1That's what I was thinking when I saw this story. Just put "ubuntu" at the beginning of your search and look for stuff from howtoforge.com or ubuntuforums.com and you'll most likely get what you need.
- psylence, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1Zing!
- jer2eydevil88, on 10/15/2007, -1/+2I have a technology company in Cincinnati Ohio, how many digg users are going to call me? 90% of the users here work in Tech related fields or want to be.
The link I put here was to showcase something we accomplished that is noteworthy, I make no revenue by having you click it. - Soave, on 10/14/2007, -0/+1Can't you just Google "[your search term] +Ubuntu"?
- datagod, on 10/14/2007, -0/+1You could...but wouldn't you rather NOT have to always type +Ubuntu?
In the case of http://sqlhunter.com there are over 65 websites that have been marked as "SQL" related, and they are given priority when the results are generated. You can quickly refine your results by clicking "SQL Server", "MySQL", "Blogs" etc. As a DBA, I use SQL Hunter every day. According to the traffic logs, Microsoft employees use it as well! - pHr34kY, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1I must use that like... 10 times a day! What's funny is that I found out about it when it was mentioned on a Google documentary on TV. Google themselves have done little to promote it.
- Dumbledorito, on 10/15/2007, -1/+2As if Digg wasn't a big enough echo chamber. Now you can completely insulate yourself from the rest of the world.
- WhereAmI, on 10/14/2007, -2/+3But thats not Ubuntu only, so therefore its full of stuff that will confuse ubuntu useres.
-Kubuntu user. - SimonGray, on 10/15/2007, -1/+1What do you know, I'm actually right: http://www.gnaa.us/about.phtml
- Quilby, on 10/15/2007, -2/+2You can get much more support on ubuntuforums.org than you would on any microsoft help site.
BTW, vista is *****. - da5id, on 10/14/2007, -1/+1~stakka -- nada. I'd be happy just to close the usb port -- no luck.
- akkibaba, on 10/15/2007, -1/+1What I do instead is open all the interesting stories on one page in tabs and then read them as page 2 loads.
- jer2eydevil88, on 10/15/2007, -2/+2Yes. Who wouldn't? I like the feedback and criticism that digg users have provided me in the past. The last time I posted the implementation it was on an equally relevant topic and one user called it the best implementation of GCSE that they had ever seen.
Digg me down for spam if you really think its spam but honestly do you see any google ads on there or anything that would net me money by having people click the link? - pdxuser, on 10/14/2007, -1/+1Ugh: Ron Paul Wire.
- ekravchenko, on 10/15/2007, -1/+1it's really really slow
- tonycoveycrump, on 09/07/2009, -0/+0Hi
That does not seem to work. I found http://www.saucylondon.com which does work! - tonycoveycrump, on 09/07/2009, -0/+0I found http://www.saucylondon.com which does work!
- marx2k, on 10/15/2007, -0/+0the google search term: "site:ubuntuforums.org "
works well too - kwilliam, on 10/15/2007, -1/+1Wow! Where has this been all my life?!
- great111, on 04/08/2008, -1/+0If you want to see the best site ever you should see this one: http://www.adultguidetolondon.co.uk/independent-es ...
- SimonGray, on 10/15/2007, -2/+1AFAIK, they took that name from a Danish cult film which was even stranger:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gayniggers_from_Outer ... - great111, on 02/27/2008, -1/+0I'm sure you can find that site or others like that one because a friend of mine found this one: http://www.contactmenow.co.uk/AdvertsbyCategory.as ...
