- SEJeff, on 10/10/2007, -7/+41I will say this is pretty sweet, but that is because I wrote it :-)
Not sure who dugg this though - schestowitz, on 10/10/2007, -8/+31I find the Human theme quite hideous. Now mod me down if you disagree, but I'll still dislike the orange/brown, which I've always immediately changed on Ubuntu boxes. It's a matter of taste at the end.

- MavRevMatt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Personally I favour the brown/oranges in comparison to having a default blue theme, but that's more of a personal thing to me. I dislike blue colour schemes because they're used everywhere, so I'll tend to like something thats not blue more than others. Regardless, I think this should be added in, not for the theme or anything, but because it could start an expansion of the screensaver on Ubuntu, there are a few things it's lacking afterall.
- srg13, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Looks alright, but I would prefer being able to set it to a completely black background...
But it's not like the old dialog is bad anyway... - Renton, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I personally like the color scheme of linux mint. Light green, with some blue here and there.
- nanostream, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7This won't be in the distro release. The screensaver lock dialog is fine the way it is because it is neutral to any themes a user might install. Your dialog would clash if it appeared in say, a dark/blue themed setup. But anyways your work is still pretty cool looking.

Awesome 404. - sublime, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Damn bluehost and their quotas
- sublime, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I've been wanting to do this for a while. So kudos to the person who did this work. I wrote the author of XScreensaver about this and found out the reason that no graphics are on the screensaver lock:

- djh816, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6it very clearly says "undertakingyou"
- papatrpt89, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4down, any mirrors?
- MavRevMatt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3See that to me is a theme I'd use, because it's not blues. It's something a little different than the common blue scheme. You can see those on Digg, Yahoo, Google, and so many other places, especially Fedora.

- Roger, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I don't like how the fonts look, especially on the buttons.
Seems like a general GNOME issue though. - gann, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Screenshots #1-#4

...i guess some people must like it though... - strabes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That's a good point.
MavRevMatt: The background of this theme is an image and would not be affected by theme changes. - sublime, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6http://duggmirror.com
- sirhomer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Looks much better then the current "non-existing" theme.
- strabes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is a great theme if your user icon has a transparent background. If it has a white background it looks kind of ugly. Also, the gconf command is incorrect. The correct one is as follows:
gconftool-2 -s --type=string /apps/gnome-screensaver/lock_dialog_theme human - Roger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Seems like you can actually alleviate this by switching fonts and tweaking the font renderer.
See http://www.howtoforge.com/sharp_fonts_gnome for a guide and before/after screenshots. - SEJeff, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So you guys know, here is the actual download. The blog that is linking to it is nuked right now:
http://www.digitalprognosis.com/opensource/ubuntu/ ... - MavRevMatt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1But if we could set it up to match the gdm theme? Or your system theme? But from this right now, we can't so...
- byrdgang, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They are already working on making all password dialogs consistent (the first time you log in to the locked computer dialog).
- geminitojanus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Seeing Tahoma after being used to Bitstream Vera or Liberation Sans makes my eyes scream in pain.
At the very least they could have gone with Helvetica. - strabes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Because it has the ubuntu "human" themed elements, namely the ubuntu logo, text, and background.
- MavRevMatt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Just make the image all black, or remove the image from the code.
- UNL1M1T3D, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Meh its alright, I kind of like the current one. We should be able to customize it more
- MavRevMatt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Strabes, yes I know, I went into editing it for rounded corners earlier, thats why I said how it is set right now, its not possible.
- silfiriel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2there are some nice Ubuntu wallpapers at http://hqwalls.blogspot.com/2007/09/glass-ubuntu-h ...
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2next time don't use so big ads because your "article" looks like a tetris block...
- hyperair, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2It honestly looks like that for every GTK2 theme used. I've tried it already. I wonder why he specifically mentioned "Human"? Or is that on Feisty?
- spacebar14, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The blog converted the two dashes into a fancy hypen.
- Ademan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1He keeps mentioning "security" but never once backs it up (not that i saw), there's NOTHING inherrently insecure about Gtk+ that doesn't also apply to Xlib.
- MavRevMatt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If it goes down again, rounded version, only the background image modified, is at http://www.mavrev.com/tmp/gnome-screensaver-human- ... and it shouldn't go down.
- sparton, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Defiantly adds some zing to the original.
- Ademan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Good job on your work, but unfortunately I don't think it's appropriate. Not many people leave their ubuntu with the human theme, it's brown, and in my opinion, ugly. The first thing i always do is change my gtk theme to clearlooks and grab a blue wallpaper (maybe even from the blubuntu package).
Your theme (which does go nicely with the default feisty background and human gtk+ theme) doesn't fit well with any other wallpapers, or any other gtk themes, which is why having a "plane jane" gtk+ dialog is best (for a default). - ross3093, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1wow that site crashed fast
- papatrpt89, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1thanks!
- jejones, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. gnome-screensaver is a POS; see http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/faq.html#gnome-scr ... for details.
- SEJeff, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0WORKING LINK
http://duggmirror.com/linux_unix/Ubuntu_Human_Gnom ... - cg0def, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2well not trying to start a flame war but a similar thing has been in openSuse for quite some time now ... just another proof that ubuntu is not always the best there is ...
- MavRevMatt, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Sadly it is gnome's font rendering.
- petard, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2we're sailors on the moon...
- scronide, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1A log in dialog? Front page of Digg / Technology? Really?
- bruenig, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Anti-conformity is funny. They never realize that they still are being controlled by conformity in the end.
- SEJeff, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0http://www.digitalprognosis.com/opensource/ubuntu/ ... Maybe if you had the right url it wouldn't 404 ;-)
- deviantlinux, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1why would this be a digg news article?
