- jeduan, on 10/11/2007, -3/+57The font looks like Blizzard's logo
- schestowitz, on 10/11/2007, -4/+42Do the bystanders know what it means?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -11/+40Ubuntu? Is that some kind of new Viagra?
- subcomandante, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20That's what she said.
- c0baltfish, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Having the Ubuntu logo instead would've been better.
- ronintetsuro, on 10/11/2007, -7/+26The only way Ubuntu is gonna reach the masses is via methods like these. Dugg.
- thomascj, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16better for what? I've used lots of different distro's and I really like Ubuntu
all of these Ubuntu haters sound like another elitist linux users who now that people are actually using linux, need some other way to be better than them.. - ragnar0kk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13Ubuntu is the single best distro for new users. you are right that there are many more great distros out there though
- telegon, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12That pic makes me really miss Manhattan. But I drink from the Ubuntu Kool-aid, so the pic overall makes me happy.
AsalamUbuntu! - pault107, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Dugg, because I like Ubuntu. But come on - that looks like a six year old kids handwriting.
- scuba7183, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6where?
- operand, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5really?!? If you had no clue what Ubuntu was - how would this graffiti help you understand the product? *UBUNTU* on the side of a Bridge means nothing to 99% of those within eyesight of this ad.
- DualCortex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Can't you see the wobbly effect?
- aazn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Yes, that promotes GNU/Linux nicely.
- idonthack, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5That's not a font, their Laser Tag system uses a camera to detect high-powered laser pointers and then a projector to "paint" wherever the pointer is detected. That's hand-drawn.

PS: the GRL ***** rules - ptFoe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5That is tiny.
- LeeDoyle, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5How is this done? I read the post above but I have seen Lazer drawings on buildings and would love to know how it is done and where I can buy or rent something to do it.
- paradexes, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5I second that. I miss Manhattan. :( I grew up there.
That said the hype could be around something else and not necessarily the Linux distro. It could just be a political statement meaning humanity which is what ubuntu stands for anyway. But it will get people talking at least about the distro AND the humanity theme. - darwin81, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4To the TuxMobile!!!
- polyGone, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I must say, I do love the Ubuntu community. I just got my laptop out of 800 x 600 mode. It wasn't showing up, so I added some stuff to my xorg.config and boom. It works perfectly. Just thought I'd share my first major success using this.
- userxrage, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Its just a picture. It was bigger in real life.
- sephiroth965, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I tag my town with the ubuntu logo. It's up in 7 different places.
- Antiphobe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I'm a developer, duh! Who on earth codes/ scripts on Windows? And yes, I am pretty sure its the Ubuntu that is crashing, google those errors and you'll realize they exist Mr. UB-Fanboy! (Also, run it on VMWare)...
- 4degrees, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3personally i like Gentoo but it is not for the "average" user while ubuntu is. The hype is not in the fact that its a linux distro, its all in the fact that it is very easy to use and manage.
- Tweakedenigma, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The only distro that I found out there that was as good or better then Ubuntu is Mint and well Mint is basically Ubuntu with a lot of the fun stuff pre-installed
- Purin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3There may be better distros, but I have better things to do than spend as much time as I am sure you do compiling your kernel and whatnot.
Kubuntu works fine for how much time I do(n't) want to spend doing unnecessary things with my operating system. - aazn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Good. Bury it, so we never have to see you again.
- 10goto10, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Ubuntu is king.
- Riotblade, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xEzGIuY7kw - Antiphobe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I wish!
- daradib, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You work for Google?
- init100, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Not even ordinary paint, but spray paint. :)
Graffiti isn't art, just worthless scribbling. - skidogallard, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3I've never taken a liking to Ubuntu. Out of the distros I've ran I like SuSE the best.
- CCmachined, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Man, what is your problem? Linux is the best thing since sliced bread in the computing world, and it's free!
- tiburon33, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Hey, I'm using Ubuntu and I'm a first timer. I think this is sweet because Ubuntu is the Creativity Suite that everyone should get. I use it to go online. I have yet to figure out how to put games on it. But trust me, from a noob, this graffiti throws me off point.
And I like it. - spliffy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1laser graffiti was passe after the second post.
- CCmachined, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1you are a *****.
- CCmachined, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1cool! thats like legendary :)
- init100, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"Also, since when does the workplace use Ubuntu as a desktop environment?"
Mine does, or rather we use Fedora and CentOS, but that is just a minor detail. Some researchers use Windows for their laptops, but that is not a supported operating system. My boss uses an iBook, by the way. - Skootles, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It's not. They use the same method they used here:
http://graffitiresearchlab.com/?page_id=76#video - suppressingfire, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Go to Applications, then Add/Remove..., then browse the Games section. Just put a checkmark next to each game you'd like to install, then click OK.
- init100, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Offensive to the graffiti "artists"? Then I'll definitely start using the term "laser graffiti", as I'd like to offend graffiti "artists". I hate graffiti.
- init100, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You don't know a lot about marketing, do you? Even if they don't actually know what Ubuntu is or means, the term lingers on in their subconscious part of the brain, possibly affecting future experiences of the system because the name feels familiar.
That's also why some commercials can be relevant even if they do not actually show the product they are marketing for. They create subconscious brand recognition instead of actual product recognition. - init100, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"Stop trying to convert!"
Sure, when Microsoft stops trying to convert people to Windows and Apple stops trying to convert people to Mac. It'll be a cold day in hell before that happens. - init100, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"There may be better distros, but I have better things to do than spend as much time as I am sure you do compiling your kernel and whatnot."
I didn't compiler a kernel for several years, and I run Fedora. Y'a know, Ubuntu isn't the only easy-to-use distro out there, even if some of their fanboys try to put it that way. - init100, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"all of these Ubuntu haters"
People become Ubuntu haters because of the endless stream of Ubuntu advocacy, often to the detriment of other distributions. Many Ubuntu users do not acknowledge that there are other distributions, and that other people might be more inclined to run them instead of their beloved Ubuntu. Some will even post derogatory comments about other distributions, "because it isn't Ubuntu". Some will flame users of non-Ubuntu distributions just because they chose another distro than Ubuntu. - Heilige, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5Keep in mind the word Ubuntu is not a Linux only word
- marx2k, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Good luck making that with a laser pen
- bcmiller, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1dugg for AsalamUbuntu! very funny
- RussellDovey, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Wow, I must change to Ubuntu immediately!
