- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -3/+45This has nothing to do with Ubuntu......
but not bad - anglachel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+38one from mozilla
one from just about any package maintainer
one from open office
one from Gnome
and one from DEBIAN!!!!
None from Ubuntu - schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+32To many, Ubuntu==Linux. No reason to mind or be upset really. Embark on Linux through Ubuntu and then explore other distros.
- tony134340, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25Because the word 'Ubuntu' brings diggs.
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23You mean excluding the multi-million dollar Linux environment we have running where I work, right?
Yea....that's what I thought. - slash128gnr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Hey nothings happe
- LocDawg, on 11/11/2007, -8/+25Oooh, I found another one ... open a terminal and type this:
sudo rm -rf / - Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Yeah, I'm sure the fact that typing an obscure console command causes it to print a cow to the screen has deterred many a corporate user.
- raid517, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Or indeed why Microsoft bought into SuSe Linux in order to try to head off the competition from Linux in the corporate market?
It seems Microsoft doesn't think Linux is a serious contender either - hence why they are throwing hundreds of millions of dollars at it. - alpha2zulu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11yeah i used to think corporate users were the ONLY users.
? - loserhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8if only digg were a wiki i would edit the article's title to "Easter Eggs in Open Source Applications" and everyone would undigg this one.
- Aewheros, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11They are all in Ubuntu, though none is Ubuntu specific.
- barbobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_eggs_in_Microsoft_products
"a perfect example of why corporate users completely ignore Linux!"
Nice research you had to backup your claim there.

http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,3959,1210083,00.asp - 0004, on 07/04/2008, -0/+7the OpenOffice StarWars Eggs work on Windows too...
Star Wars is only one of the games that are added in OO.o, with a simple search around the net you'd be suprised by how many extras there are.
Open up OpenOffice.org2 Calc, then enter:
=Game(”StarWars”)
in any cell and press enter!
Also, try the Tic-Tac-Toe Easter Egg in OpenOffice:
in a cell outside of the range A1:C3 type:
=Game(A1:C3;"TicTacToe")
(Hint: make a larger merged cell outside of that range, and select to wrap the text in it, to see the instructions)
there is another egg too, i cant remember it now.. it shows the photo of the dev team :)
for more OO eggs see

- Xilon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6killall gnome-panel
- suckfone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The only thing more annoying than seeing Ubuntu slapped on to the title of every linux article is looking through the posts and seeing 100 guys bitch about why thats incorrect. Stating the obvious every single time this happens makes whatever useful information that was in the article fall into the background while the discussion turns towards " Why does it always have to be Ubuntu?". OSS is finally getting relatively popular amongst home users, don't let this stupid and usually obvious argument pop up every time one of these articles gets frontpaged.
I used to get really annoyed when I was doing repair work and had people try to describe their computer problems to me in language that didn't make any sense. If I ever had someone say something to me like "I think my printer broke my ubuntu", I would be so happy. If you think nerds misuse the name in digg submissions, just wait and see what the general public does with it if it ever gets that big. I, for one, can't wait. - oceanmajk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5i feel a little bit nerdier now
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Crap, I modded furtwan up by accident. If you're reading this, go mod him down for me.
- Derrekito, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5fun stuff, glad to see people do sometimes have a sense of humor.
- Xilon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6It took you hours to type "sudo aptitude install nvidia-glx" and hit enter? Or do you just have a REALLY slow internet connection?
- Shadowman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Linux is far from ignored as a server OS but it is as a desktop OS. Last I read it only had a 2% corporate desktop market share. I could see something like SLED 10 changing that though. RHEL 5 looks good too.
- synchestric, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah, and let's reward ignorance and mediocrity in the meantime!
- vishah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2heh heh

Dialup is no laughing matter. Every time you use dialup, God clubs a baby seal. - krewemaynard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@Xilon: THANK YOU! That $#& fish command should come with a warning.
- dandiemer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://www.duggmirror.com
- bart9h, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@Aewhero: because the easter eggs are in programs included by ubuntu, and not created by the ubuntu team.
@schestowitz: just like to many more, Linux==GNU/Linux
(not talking about RMS claims, but the fact that Linux is just the kernel over which the programs run on. - fyanardi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, none of them is only for Ubuntu, even the two (OpenOffice.org and Mozilla) are also available for Linux, Windows, and some other OSs. But still nice to show that to people ...
- bart9h, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Open a Firefox, Mozilla, or Netscape tab or window, and type: “about:mozilla” in the URL field. You will get a message from the book of Mozilla, depending on your version, you will get 1 of 3 passages from here: http://www.mozilla.org/book/
Silly, but reat to use has home page! (Edit / Preferences / Main / Home Page: -)
update: bah, I tought it was random, just like fortunes - NaR00W, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0ohh well - the whole "ubuntu's not Linux" discussion aside, I think the Mozilla book is funny =D
- 99bfoxx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0the fsck r u thinking u tard

its dick-wads like you that turn ppl off of UNIX-like operating systems
in your case you truly need to go fsck youself and reinstall a working personality and get a new BRAIN you psyco immature dick-wad - monsterb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Bury this one!
- talledega500, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Easter eggs dont matter when the bitch wont even install right.
Maybe we should call it Ubuntu 95 - burke, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I disagree very strongly with calling it GNU/Linux. It seems as though if we're going that far, I might as well call it Opera/Fluxbox/Abiword/Amarok/K3B/.../GNU/Linux
- Kerwin, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2LIES, LIES AND SLANDER!
- sensia3, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2ohg! I donno Ubuntu=eggs or omlets or linux, but it took me hours to install Nvidia driver in my box, still without 3D support.
- Aewheros, on 10/12/2007, -19/+4If you use Ubuntu to find easter eggs, how has that nothing to do with Ubuntu?
- raid517, on 10/12/2007, -19/+2....
- furtwan1, on 10/12/2007, -37/+2a perfect example of why corporate users completely ignore Linux!
