- Jpardue, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1WTF?... This is like the fifth post about this today. Everyone knows now! Do us a favor and go find out about something new
- matthartley, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1This was posted BEFORE all the others. Hence the point of me posting. This was posted yesterday.
- thepxc, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1This is not a bad thing, and there's no reason to act like it is. All it does is give Ubuntu some exposure, and a nice pretty box. If I didn't hate BestBuy for completely unrelated reasons, I might buy each Ubuntu release there to keep the box as a souvenir with which to display my support for Ubuntu or something.
Free Software isn't (and never has been) about cost. What they are charging you is what rms would describe as a "distribution fee". It's for the convenience of not having to download a CD/DVD, for the packaging and the pretty CD cover. You can decide whether or not that seems worth it to you and choose whether or not to purchase it, but there's nothing wrong with putting Ubuntu up for sale. - depro9, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1We should picket best buy & hand out free copies. This would be even better publicity. ;)
- mynameistux, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1but,, but, its free. This is not right. good publicity, but tricking people into thinking they have to pay for it, I really don't like it.
- depro9, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1I live in Chicago ill go take some pix in store & report back.
