- Gatesophile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Now, this would be REALLY interesting if it ran Windows, because it's be really ironic.
But I love it. So cute. I want one. Or. two. or ELEVEN!!!!
...ahem. - withears, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm building a Bill Gates-shaped computer to run Windows.
When it crashes, you get the blue eyes of death. creepy. - Mysidia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2But can it run Windows?
- mckinnej, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Make this thing full sized and they've got a sell. Hell, my server is named Penguin (like probably a zillion others). It might as well look the part. I'd have to get it out from under the desk though so people could see it. They would think it was some kind of doll or stuffed animal. I don't think anyone would realize it might be a computer. Sweet!
- albel65, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Kawaii, but thats all.
- Eldoo77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm building a Mac case that is shaped like Steve Jobs' enormous head. And yes it does have Intel inside... thanks for asking!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1omfg no VGA, how will I play HL2?
- CptnObvious, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Im going to make a beowolf cluster with them!
- tito13kfm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would have appreciated a NSFW tag....
"TUX Case is made up of six coloured parts in PVC: pecker, right and left legs are yellow, tummy, face and eyes sockets are made with one white part, front and back half are black."
A PVC Pecker??? That's just wrong. :P - weesee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i must be ignorant... what is the purpose of a computer this stripped down? there is no storage no sound....just a cpu and power...this to me seems neet in its own right but sems very useless....like a dust collector.
I can see maybe running a divice like a webcam or something but it seems very limited to me VERY limited - leszek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool
- dag68, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0THIS IS JUST A CASE, NO COMPUTER INSIDE, you must purchase that seperately
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i love the accessable VGA port :-P
- mynameisob3l, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This has got to be the perfect gift for your favorite Linux hacker.... or just hella dumb!
- dielawn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0siiiick.
i want one@! - dslknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And where do you hook up a monitor???
- DarthPilatus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Friggin Awesome...
I have been waiting for mod a Apple shaped Mac Mini though... - weesee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If you were by chance to write something like this:
imagine putting tux on wheels, you could use the SBC to control it. or you could turn it into some kind of funky webcam.
it's it capable of being networked and running any kind of device you can think .
you would be educating me. Yes i'm a newb I admit that. you dont have to be so mean about your answer. And you dont know me at all because I dont use my computer to pirate music i have a job and money...i buy my music thankyouverymuch and I do play games but I also do frgraphic design and CAD. Education is gained through the asking and answering of questions my friend. - Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is awesome :D
- sspooner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's an embedded board guys, not a windows PC.
I suspect it's MIPS based. Cool though, I might get one, I do a lot of embedded dev work. - Inphormatika, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I almost bought one, until I saw that the board wasn't included.... I almsot had a heart attack when I saw that it was only 29 Euros.... oh well.
- sspooner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OK, I checked it out. It's based on the cris architecture. It's pretty cool though.
- Saffron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0now this is pretty kool i would buy one if i had the money
- recover82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this comment box cannot contain my laughter.
i love this. - spydirweb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0am I the only one with a problem about the title? It's shaped like the freaking LINUX MASCOT. What do you expect it to run? OS/2 Warp?
- vertigoblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i digg the tux...
- vishnu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If only there was a full sized case to stick my new Ubuntu setup into! DAMN!
- neebick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would love one that could fit the nano itx so I could get one for my little sister.
- Zeusandhera, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's cute. I have a toy stuffed animal penguin sitting in an empty drive bay of my Linux box.
- drbroccoli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"i must be ignorant... what is the purpose of a computer this stripped down? there is no storage no sound....just a cpu and power...this to me seems neet in its own right but sems very useless....like a dust collector."
No, I think it's just a toy. Not really meant for anything practical. Just for hax. - xaque, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow... that's roxsome.
- frozendice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ORLY? It runs linux? Suprise suprise. Why is this casemod on the front page?
- mikeod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0RISC cpu for the lose!
- Tagg3rX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh man thats so fing sweet
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Um...what are you supposed to do with it? The board is not included and the specs are horrible. Pointless.
- burningheretic6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is the sort of useless trinket I always seem to get then regret. Dont know its worth forking out the money for something Ill use for two seconds, then throw on the crap heap.
- dipswitch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0876 of them left. Woohoo.
Maybe a possible application is to use the USB ports for speakers and infra red. Since it has a network port, with speakers and a remote it could function as a radio, provided the risc cpu is powerful enough :) - goobity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thats cool. My kid would like it even if he didn't know how to administor it
- YakkSoho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha OS/2 Warp
- archanox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I could barely call a +5v input a power supply.
- TuxFan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I didn't see anything about VGA but it would be a nice Web server or file server or some damn server. Dugg and I may have to get one of those cute things.
- nebunezzar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Man, I sure hope all those, "it should run windows" are sarcasm. This would be perfect for a server, just hook up a usb hard drive, ssh in and set it all up. Maybe to keep it stealthy you could make a hdd enclosure that looks like a block of ice. And weesee, don't take anything too personally here. The whole remote webcam idea, kinda rediculous, but could be do-able. This is a toy for the command line jocks.
- airship, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0876 Tux cases in stock, but NONE of the custom boards that fit inside it. Zero. Nada. So you can buy the case, but not the computer.
- ToadX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ha. Tux Case + Fox Board + Fox Console = €173 = $200+ US Dollars. Might as well build a cheap PC for that price.
- GuineaPig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm by no means a Linux fan, but that's pretty nifty.
- ToadX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Also, note even if you bought those, it doesn't come with a power supply.
- Anchoret, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0> This is funny
No, it's not; it's creepy and vomitous. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0oh and RE: all the comments about no vga.
ever heard of telnet? ssh? serial console? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4weesee
clearly you lack vision. computing isn't only used to play games and pirate music you know.
imagine putting tux on wheels, you could use the SBC (single board computer for slow ***** like you) to control it. or you could turn it into some kind of funky webcam.
infact if you actually READ the damn thing you'd realise it's it capable of being networked and running any kind of device you can think of ( and clearly thats where you fall down, the thinking part) - 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Now if Linux only made a good kernel to go along with it's cute mascot.
