- czarr, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1You use Microsoft office as an example of software that venders need to port to linux...think about what your suggesting. As for power consumption, it was shown recently (at the server level at least) that linux used ~10% less energy than windows. And from what i understand, wireless devices can't become fully open source due to restrictions by the FCC because of the kinds of manipulations / havac that could be caused by having full control over a wireless card.
