Things you should never EVER type in Linux. Ever!

arsgeek.com — I feel that I need to put a warning at the top of this post because try as I might in the subject to be clear about what I mean, I know that someone will go and execute one of these things into their production server at work and then be horribly distraught and/or cause some sort of power grid catastrophe across the Pacific Northwest or something

  • arjie, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1About the tar thing, doesn't file roller create a folder called foo.tar_files or something like that if there is no folder inside the archive?
  • syntaxer, on 09/01/2008, -0/+0Yeah, but File Roller is a Gnome specific GUI program. I think that author means to be cautious with command line utility.
