- mweierophinney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree with mattdm -- it even has text in it claiming, "For After almost 3 years now, The Ultimate Guide On Linux For Beginners has served millions of newbies on Linux. Since May 30th, 2000, this site has been undergoing major changes." If that text hasn't changed, it's at best over two years old, and I'm thinking that they were saying that it was three years old in May 2000... making it five years out of date.
- diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How about an OS X guide?
- Sofa_King_Jank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How many "ultimate" guides are out there on the world wide web?
"Arghhh!!! Black backgrounds make my eyes hurt!!!" Yes, but the waving flag .gifs were so damn cool. I am going to put those on my home page. - hammerattack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They should start with how to properly pronounce "linux". I'm not worried about international differences, so much as American speakers of English who say "lynn icks". These same people pronounce Linus "lie nuhs", but "Linux" "lynn icks"?
- slopedsideways, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think I may have accidently poked my eye out with a pencil. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
- Lexx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is the Ultimate Linux comment right here, this dig sucks
- orangetiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"To run games like Doom and Abuse" Wow, abuse. That takes me back to my childhood.

- felipelb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very old guide... at the bottom it says 1998. That´s sooooooooooo many bubbles ago.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0> I just wrote the Ultimate guide on pronouncing "linux"
lol!
No digg. old & crummy. Too "hand-holdy" instead of actually teaching. - hammerattack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"And I suppose you call Microsoft's OS "Wine-Doze"?"
You supposed wrongly. There's a hard consonant starting the second syllable and... nevermind. I'm not going to explain phonics to a troll.
"well carp, I thought Linux was pronounced Lynn - ux because of Linus Torvalds first name was supposedly pronounced Lynn - us"
In the old days, when you configured your soundcard with sndconfig, it played an audio file wherein Linus pronounces "Linux" as "lee nooks", and introduces himself as "lee noose" Torvalds. Like I said, I'm not worried about international differences. I'm worried about American English speakers who don't get it right for any language. - EchoZoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"They should start with how to properly pronounce "linux". Darwin getting ya down? Scared of the terminal? Kernel panicking?!? Don't sweat it, buy a new one. Suckers. The end. - xutopia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Arghhh!!! Black backgrounds make my eyes hurt!!!
Please stop doing that!
PS: It makes a site look like a script kiddie wrote it. - buddyfarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well carp, I thought Linux was pronounced Lynn - ux because of Linus Torvalds first name was supposedly pronounced Lynn - us. someone told me that an original version of Linux had an audio file in it of him pronouncing it correctly that way??? am I wrong?? has my life as I know it been split into a black hole of nothingness?????? oh help me!!!
- kyjello, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0People, stop adding the little "-[your name here]" to the ends of your posts. Take a look just below your post after you post it, and you will see your name conveniently added for you. There's ABSOLUTELY NO NEED for you to sign your posts. It just comes off as self-important, and irritates the rest of us. Thank you for your attention; refreshments will be served in the lobby.
-kyjello ;) - etx313, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just wrote the Ultimate guide on pronouncing "linux" http://www.saylinuxright-becoolashell.com
- OswaldKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is it tom-ate-toe or is it tom-ot-toe?
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A good though, but very, very old and needs updating. No digg here.
