- dualscreenman, on 06/12/2008, -0/+6These pictures may nor may not actually represent what the themes actually look like. Not all of them are "black themes". These pictures were taken inside a virtual machine which doesn't support the composite X extension. Many of these themes are supposed to have transparent backgrounds, but when composite is missing many themes default back to having the black background behind their transparent items. This makes them look ugly and black.
Due to this, several themes such as Glassified look wrong in these screenshots. I would recommend looking at the screenshots posted at kde-look.org for a more accurate representation of what the themes actually look like.
Affected themes are: Akoma, to a small extent, Glassified (majorly), Mist (majorly), Perfection, Shelf, Uqbar, and White Glass. (Ironically, without compositing this has a black background.
So no, there isn't a rampant black fetish in KDE Plasma themes, though the authors of affected themes could make the non-composite theme elements better. - dualscreenman, on 06/12/2008, -0/+5That is for some part due to the manner in which the screenshot was taken. It means that once theme artists get their hands on this new engine, you're going to see many diverse cool looking themes, not just recolourings.
