- bmarinaccio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am with HotLinuxJobs, an IT recruiting firm that specializes in the placement of Linux/Open Source professionals. We have been doing this for a little over six years. From our vantage point, there is a shortage in certain areas. For instance, there are periods of time where there are not enough kernel level developers to go around for the openings that we have. Sometimes, it is other areas. But, in addition to ones skill set is the way in which companies are recruiting. We still see a reluctance in allowing telecommuting which plays a part in the perceived lack of talent. So, it is a little more complex than just a simple yes or no. There is shortage to a degree, and some of it results from the lack of flexibility in the company's recruiting process.
- hijinks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0there is a reason some people can't find work.. cause they are just bad.. or good in the wrong area. I recently quit my job and looking over resumes for my replacement and i would say 90% of them are just SAD!
