The First Government Office Ever Turns to Open Source

linuxtoday.com — Frank Heemskerk, minister of Foreign Affairs, launched the new website of the Netherlands Patent Office today, which is based on open source software. By the end of 2009, the entire office environment, including desktop computer systems and the relationship management system will be running on the basis of open source software.

  • smotpoker, on 09/26/2008, -0/+8The title is misleading/inaccurate IMO. There have been many governments who adopted FOSS in some form or another for years now. It most certainly isn't the "First" government office "Ever" to use Open Source.
