- staticfish, on 11/15/2008, -15/+145That should be the tagline for Vista:
Windows Vista™ - "It's not that bad" - NixiePixel, on 11/15/2008, -20/+111The sad thing is that picture is more sophisticated than the actual Vista boot sequence.
- inactive, on 11/15/2008, -4/+90"windows has encountered a serious error, so we drew you a picture of a spider"
- inactive, on 11/15/2008, -37/+84Sorry, I'll take Ubuntu over Vista any day. It's just so much more stable, light with the resources, more secure and free.
- rolf, on 11/15/2008, -3/+44Why should he buy a new computer just to run Vista if the old one does what he needs it for?
- UNL1M1T3D, on 11/15/2008, -2/+42Why are you apoligizing?
- KloroFormd, on 11/15/2008, -8/+46This is more accurate:
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/144/323281734_c61af ... - 37RUSSK4N, on 11/15/2008, -7/+42How about a little simpler, a little more honest :
Windows Vista™ - " It's not that good" - jellygraph, on 11/15/2008, -1/+31the problem is, only microsoft could possible know what windows boot process looks like.
- john2kx, on 11/15/2008, -0/+29All I can tell is, from the way those mountains are drawn, that is the largest tree in the universe.
- ligyron, on 11/15/2008, -5/+32Guess you have to be a nerd to get this
- jellygraph, on 11/15/2008, -1/+25er... that is actually microsofts current advertising campaign.
- Rivetgeek, on 11/15/2008, -10/+33Windows Vista™ - "WIndows ME for 2008"
- OrangeSoda31, on 11/15/2008, -1/+21I don't think they want us to know... It must look awful.
- superc0w, on 11/15/2008, -1/+19FTA:
'The entire graph represents a call chain from the bootloader up until it jumps into userspace to a shell prompt...' - XVampireX, on 11/15/2008, -9/+26Vista is not that bad, it's true... but the fact that you need such a powerful PC to run it normally makes some people angry :D I don't care, I've got a nice PC :D
What pisses me is 64bit vista ;) - UNL1M1T3D, on 11/15/2008, -4/+21RTFA and you won't be dumb.
- Drahkar, on 11/15/2008, -4/+21I love the comments about 'You just can't run Vista cause your computer sucks'.
I can run all the games out there with no trouble at all on XP, but the moment I put Vista on my system everything basically implodes and I can barely run vista, let alone any of the games out there. And that's because my computer sucks? Me thinks someone is trying a little to hard to deny the truth of the matter. - juliohm, on 11/15/2008, -4/+20That would've been so much cooler if it were animated.
- StormyAaron, on 11/15/2008, -2/+16If you read the article and saw the picture you would of seen that it was a stab at Windows.
- Shiftyeyedgoat, on 11/15/2008, -3/+17What?? This is completely inaccurate!
There's no sun-shining over Vista's grave, just a drunk Steve Ballmer pissing on it. - Jarasmen, on 11/16/2008, -13/+26I like Vista. Maybe people could actually try and use an OS before bashing it.
- ConcernedCanuck, on 11/15/2008, -7/+20Windows Visa™ - "It's no Mojave, but its better then a hamster running in a wheel"
- Invid, on 11/16/2008, -2/+15Used to be you had to be a nerd to be on digg. I miss those days. Comments and stories were both better.
- inactive, on 11/15/2008, -9/+22I LIKE CHEESE AND MILK AND SAUSAGE!!
/guy that made picture... - rotten777, on 11/16/2008, -0/+13there is more than one kind of freedom.
- zwaldowski, on 11/16/2008, -3/+14HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Microsoft doesn't have a public buglist, you *****! - rotten777, on 11/16/2008, -0/+10DX10... eye candy for computers games is the only legit reason some people are using Vista. That's pretty sad.
- feignNU, on 11/15/2008, -0/+10*whoosh*
- DuMbGuM, on 11/16/2008, -1/+11"noob-friendlyness" - Yeah thats more OSX than Vista.. and i have a mac as well as a PC.
I have a high end PC running Vista so i'm able to enjoy it.. completely, which is why i use it over my hackintosh system on my PC and osx on my macbook, I simply find it better in nearly every aspect. - ethana2, on 11/16/2008, -2/+11Does it have package management yet, or do you still have to hunt things down with a web browser to install them?
- zwaldowski, on 11/16/2008, -6/+15I don't. I have it. I use it. Don't like it. It's *****.
- cleansoap, on 11/15/2008, -3/+12While there are many grievances you could voice about Linux in general and Ubuntu in particular - instability is not one of them.
If you have applications crashing "left and right", perhaps you should looking into possible underlying issues. When was the last time you ran Memtest? - rameznabel, on 11/15/2008, -0/+9boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom
- theaceoffire, on 11/16/2008, -2/+10@benitojuarez
I shouldn't need a super computer to send a text email. - Megatog615, on 11/15/2008, -0/+8You fail to understand how none of those problems are the fault of Linux.
- Lith25, on 11/15/2008, -16/+24Ubuntu may be lighter and more secure, but it is not more stable...atleast in my experience. I always had problems with applications crashing left and right; espically firefox freezing up on me randomly every 5 minutes.
- Ademan, on 11/15/2008, -6/+14heh, totally not news though...
- Vich, on 11/16/2008, -7/+15No, Apple told me it was bad and I believe them; I mean why would they lie about something like that?
- dogstylee, on 11/15/2008, -7/+15Seriously, who has such a crap PC that you people are describing? I have a Dual Core, which cost about £70, and 4gb of high speed RAM, which cost about £40. Wasn't that difficult, was it... Runs Vista x64 sweetly, as it should. My entire computer cost £410, that's including postage, and a good gfx card. That is what you would call a budget machine, so what the ***** are you people bitching about a £2000 machine that is needed for Vista?
Most of the members here would willingly drop a few thousand on an Apple product that gives far less (hello Macbook Air!) just because it looks pretty and is made by Apple which must make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside because you own an Apple and that makes you unique, just like everyone else.
You people just look for any tiny little thing to ***** on Vista for. It runs just fine, hasn't crashed once on me (the machine), deals with ***** 3rd party software smoothly, has excellent driver support, and runs games in DX10. I can guarantee if there was a link on here criticizing Apple or Linux for some of their supposed shortcomings, that your little Apple/Linux Defense Force army would mobilize and form a protective shield and bury it. - RodgerE1, on 11/15/2008, -11/+19I have been using Vista since release. It is very very stable.
- black27696, on 11/16/2008, -0/+8In this very article.
- Adralemechk, on 11/15/2008, -16/+24lol Vista can be free too
- rotten777, on 11/16/2008, -0/+8you have to pay, enter the serial, activate over the web or phone, install, then use it only the way they want you to and only on that 1 computer.
- inactive, on 11/16/2008, -2/+10I used it, I disliked it, I bash it. QED *****.
- farfegnugen, on 11/15/2008, -0/+71000 GHz, huh? Where can I get one of these superpowered futurecomputers?
- Smeed, on 11/15/2008, -4/+11Until you want to play Far Cry 2, Fallout or COD:WaW
- Vich, on 11/16/2008, -3/+10Stop being honest, we only have room here for fanboys who hate Microsoft and all things Windows.
- edwinjose, on 11/16/2008, -0/+7OK here we go again. All unixes are more secure than windowses because unixes are designed to be secure.
There is a popular misconception that bad guys can break into anything. They can't. Security can be real.
Ever wondered why US National Security Agency distributes Linux with their name on it? - thedinomeister, on 11/16/2008, -2/+9I simultaneously smoothly run Solidworks 2008, Adobe Photoshop CS3, Adobe Indesign CS3, and iTunes on my Dell Inspiron that I bought a couple years ago -- all while running on Vista Enterprise. Everything runs very well and I have never had any problems. This is just my personal experience so it obviously does not reflect what others experience. My Dell specs: 1.8ghz Intel Centrino Duo, 1GB of 533mhz ram, 80GB hdd, and radeon 128MB X1600 video card.
