State in India gives 100,000 linux laptops for students

elcot.in — Tamilnadu, a state in india is giving 100,000 laptops loaded with suse for students (school to college) for a reduced price. Anonther 100,000 added to Desktoplinux market share :-). This state had already moved most of its government IT operations to linux.

But Microsoft offered a bundled version of its operating system, office suite and anti virus software for Rs.2500 ($57). ELCOT says this is not acceptable as it looks like a marketing edition and not academic editon
