- GnuTzu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Despite my initial shock from title, I won't worry unless this turns into some kind of long term agreement.
Microsoft has to deal with patent issues overseas just like any other International company. With that in mind, it's not too surprising to find them both in opposition to AT&T. I don't really see it as them collaborating.
But then, maybe I've just slipped into massive denial as a result of the sudden shock. - 10scjed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is good. All spurious patents (and really all software patents) must go, even the ones used against Microsoft.
The irony is that SFLC's brief on MS' behalf is that the patent is invalid on its face because all software patents are invalid, the US Supreme Court has consistently held against the patentability of mathematical algorithms, which software is in essence, or at least thats how I understand their argument.
So, while filed in support of Microsoft in this case, SFLC and Microsoft don't seem to have the same long-term goal.
