- kingofpenguins, on 03/21/2008, -3/+14This just goes to show that KDE4 is NOT (or doesn't have to be) a Vista or Mac visual clone. Unlike the Windows and Mac interfaces, KDE can be customized to look like practically anything you want.
http://www.kde-look.org/ - ArthurSucks, on 03/21/2008, -0/+8I love my Gnome desktop but some of the advancements to KDE are amazing!
- orijimi, on 03/21/2008, -2/+7GNOME can already do this. What matters here is that all KDE themes must be forced to do this, and then it'll be better than GNOME, which doesn't force creators to allow for color changing..
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 03/21/2008, -0/+4KDE is extremely customizable.
But Windows XP to it's credit has a lot of custom desktop styles available for download, since they reverse engineered Microsofts super secret style format. - puelocesar, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2For those interessed in making kde4 plasma themes. take a look at this:
http://digg.com/linux_unix/Plasma_theme_contest - JasonHaley, on 03/21/2008, -2/+4This idea may be way out there but I could see this pink-theme actually catch on if one thing were to occur. And that's if you could download the theme if you donate to a breast cancer charity 100% of the profits.
Research will get more funding and guys all over the world will be able to feel manly about having a fuzzy pink desktop. - supermajic, on 03/21/2008, -3/+4Yeah.. I wouldn't be caught dead with that on my desktop though.
- puelocesar, on 03/21/2008, -1/+2Gnome have native and themable desktop widgets? I really don't think so, and I'm a long time gnome user
- mason215, on 03/21/2008, -3/+4wow that looks really nice
- MeneerR, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1You both have a weird definition of native.
There are no native gnome or kde apps. There might be official gnome or kde apps. But that's just a sticker. Nothing special about that. - Scyth3, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1Just install screenlets or similar -- if you really want widgets. They honestly bother me to no end, kind of like the people that have desktops completely covered with files and shortcuts.
Link to screenlets: http://getdeb.net/release.php?id=2309 - Scyth3, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1Who knew Chuck Norris was 90 years old...
- smacksaw, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1Successfully installed hot new pink stuff, OMG!
- sixsidepentagon, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1That's hot.
- Scyth3, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1Did I say that screenlets was a native app? Read my statement, idiot.
I'll rewrite it for you, since I'm sure you're too classy to actually look above your own comment: "Just install screenlets or similar -- if you really want widgets."
Oh wait, what's that? An *if you really want*? Oh wait? Does that mean that it doesn't come with it built in...aka native? No *****. - inactive, on 03/21/2008, -2/+2Looks pretty gay...
- puelocesar, on 03/21/2008, -2/+1...
what part of *native* didn't you understood? Boot a mac, press F12 and you can see what widgets trully are
