- geminitojanus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7A) Nice troll, the site's still up, and this site (Digg) also runs on Apache (as does parts of Google and pretty much every other high traffic site on the net).
B) This is an /algorithm/, not a piece of software. It'll run on just about anything Turing complete with enough RAM to store the kd tree for the selected image. - killercow, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9what part of:
SIOX in GIMP
Plugin for Gimp 2.2
GIMP Plugin Manual
SIOX in GIMP 2.3
GIMP 2.4 Preview
didn't you understand? - killercow, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7what is really that much of a problem to actually state what he was bitching about then?
the arcticle and digg post clearly do NOT about any other algo, do they? - spyres, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Works quite well in Gimp 2.4 release candidate 1.
- usergentoo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5video demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_FWoD82U_o
- sej7278, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5its going to come by default in gimp 2.4 and is already in 2.3 (the development version) there's a plugin for 2.2 too.
- Peterix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I do. And everyone who's using pirated Photoshop should consider switching.
- L4WL3RS34L, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIOX
- usergentoo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Grab Gimp 2.4 for windows and its called the Foreground select tool
- Atomic1fire, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Short answer
Yes it will run on windows
install gimp 2.2 for windows
install the gimp plugin
done its installed on windows
its a simple process of installing it on gimp
but there isnt a photoshop version or anything - BlackOp, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4No app does it well. It just can't be done properly unless you have a sample accurate instrumental/a capella version for phase cancellation. And I don't see the similarity with this SIOX thing.
Oh and calling you own music amazing is a bit tacky. - smackhero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3don't know why mlazarov is getting buried. Soft Scissors actually looks a lot more impressive than SIOX: http://vis.berkeley.edu/papers/softscissors/
- lunisneko, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2And thus begins a whole new era for Photoshop Phridays, and Caturday!
- jackmarlin, on 08/05/2009, -0/+1Wow Nice, I am planning on using it!
http://www.babyphatshoes.org/ - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i disagree blackop
im not sure what you use, but i have some crazy hardware that can get rid of an instrument or voice with perfect precision when a sample is applied
id also consider myself a tacky guy ;) ;) - BlackOp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1your*
- kuntaldaftary, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1if this requires "little user interaction", why does it have the word "interactive" in its name ?
- dafragsta, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1There is something similar in Photoshop CS3, but it's great that this technology is in the open source space now. That means people will be able to script it and get more usage out of it.
- benplaut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Friggin sweet... that's a pretty cool enhancement on lasso.
- ShannaraFan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0"Interactive Object Extraction" brings so many things to mind...
- schestowitz, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3They could easily reuse some of the work done on colorising images (see http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/iel5/10242/32661/01530151.pdf?arnumber=1530151 [PDF]). It's something common and fundamental in computer vision research.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1this reminds me of audio processing,
for instance, taking the vocals out of a song, which lots of apps and plugins do and apparently use the same types of algorithms.
this programmed music is amazing...
http://www.extlabs.com/yourinfamousharp/ - mlazarov, on 10/10/2007, -8/+2Although there isn't software yet available that utilizes the algorithm, I suggest taking a look at a paper called Soft Scissors.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -8/+2i believe he is referring to a different set of algorithms
BITCH - xShad0w, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1seems good but who uses gimp?
- code2joy, on 10/10/2007, -12/+2SIOUX site must be hosted on apache, it's down.
i don't suppose this will run on windows?
