Sharing files with wdfs and FUSE

linux.com — I move from computer to computer constantly -- desktops, laptops, testing machines -- and rather than worry about synchronizing the assorted hard disks content, I prefer to keep one central copy of my documents that I can access anywhere. I do that using wdfs, the WebDAV file system for FUSE.

  • ClassicQ, on 09/04/2008, -0/+1I think for the pure simplicity sshfs / fuse is a better solution, at least that's my preference for a network of nix boxes. Sure WebDAV offers a little more like versioning (oops protection =]), user access controls/selective sharing, windows accessibility. But I don't think generally the average home nix user has those requirements. In the rare circumstance I'm operating from a windows environment and need a file or two, it's simple to SFTP. None the less if you have those needs this looks like a great solution, unfortunately it seems somewhat overblown and slightly more complicated for the authors needs outlined in the first paragraph.
