- no-use, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Wow this is exactly what I was looking for just now.

I have many up in Boise. - ju88a, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0www.freewhy-fi.net does the same thing but with better control and security.
- ramsinks.com, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0NoCat is pretty tight too. With our Less, we have a redirect add based market thats easily customizable for venues.
Although I like to use Hyper firmware on my WRT54g's and hit 1/2 mile with a small 7db gain antenna. You know, to cross those crappy paid Starbucks. ;) - molochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Some of the local cafes here in Atlanta use NoCatNet http://nocat.net which I think got started in the wilds of Sonoma CA. It is supposed to be run on Redhat.
Here's an article on it.

So I guess it's not really free. Didn't really look too deeply to see what they use your personal information for, might just be so you can use the software.
Great idea, gonna have to look into it some more... digg. - myWIFIzone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0myWIFIzone Captive Portal services do the same thing and work with Windows 2K/XP. Zero up-front investment if you already have a WIFI network.
- odtt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0how about openAP. Is is good.
- dwright, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I still think this is an exciting application. Most of the time open source software can be tricky to get working, but this application is completely different. I think they did a great job. I discuss this more at my blog:
Atlas-Tuesday - Hotspot Solutions NoCat - lexbaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ZoneCD is pretty easy to set up. However, I want a Live CD version of Linux that will allow my laptop's internal wireless act as an access point. I tried ZoneCD, but it requires an external AP.
- whfsdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Used it all last year. I don't get why this is new news.
- egeier, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0 My new book, Wi-Fi Hotspots: Setting Up Public Wireless Internet Access, steps through setting up and installing four different Wi-Fi hotspot (free and fee based) solutions.
One of these solutions is using ZoneCD, a Linux based LiveCD, developed by PublicIP. In addition, the CD bundled with the book is loaded with ZoneCD.

- Eric Geier - qball15j, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I've used ZoneCD before, thats a great little opensource HotSpot. I dont exactly like the idea of them having all my user info but thats the easiest route to go.
