Your very right. There are some great cacti on Ubuntu resources. We are working on making our cati install very quick and reproducible. Following the 8 steps in my post you can start with a dead server, install Ubuntu 7.04 and have cacti graphing in less than 19 minutes. If you read the full post you'll see that we have tried multiple times to get cacti working and have had problems with 7.04 which seems to lack a full tested walk through of a cati install. Since posting I have built 12 more cacti boxes using this exact practice and its flawless on VM systems, HP hardware, supermicro hardware, generic hardware and even old intel network appliances. I hope some folks get some millage out of my quick and dirty walk through. I hope to post more detail and pictures later. Thanks for digging me guys!
