- p3nguin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No Digg since you posted with a misleading title. This is just a test release where the title makes it sound as if it is a production release.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I almost tossed my Samba 3 book in my fireplace.
- v3xt0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1at least slashdot got the title right! =p

Read the ***** article before you digg! - jarva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0considering how it hasn't been released, how is this on the front page???
- FarcePest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hell, even Slashdot got it right. Lame.
- Rice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Woah, woah, woah, time to undigg.
- Tyrekicker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lame.
Samba 4 is not released at all.
http://us3.samba.org/samba/news/#4.0.0tp1 - TrAvELAr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks like someone jumped the gun a bit on this one. Samba 4 has not been released yet. A technology preview of Samba 4 has been released. This from the Samba website:
Samba 4 is currently not yet in a state where it is usable in production environments. Note the WARNINGS, and the STATUS file, which aims to document what should and should not work. - MikeDawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Title should be: "Samba 4 Technology Preview Released"
No DIGG! - ZarZax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its just a misleading slashdot rewrite for digg.
- cakefart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a release in the same sense Avalon, Indigo, and Vista are :-)
Not dugg. - Scoota, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sounds really good. I can't wait till this is a production release
- wilsonics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Big Digg on that even though it's a tech preview, i've loved samba......like my own children.....which i don't have....but....well....yeah, you get the picture.

My SMB server (SLAX) has been up for 8mo. without reboot...
I'll reboot to install this once it's done.
GG - ZinZa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seems great, waiting for the actual release, and yes, I can digg it, even though the title was misleading
- kickarse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I see it as a wonderful step forward in the opensource community not just that someone mistakenly posted something.
- recover82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i don't dig based on titles. i actually read this article. it's good news and great movements in the open source community.
- dramatools, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Diggable not because Samba 4 was "released," but for what it will give us once it is. Samba will finally use a directory service out of the box with a user management front end in SWAT. This version will finally provide Windows clients a true alternative to Windows Server.
- wilsonics, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I just keep hearing "Bring out your dead......bring out your dead...."
I think that MS had better be scared of this. Anybody think that they'll start enforcing a patent or two?

What is Digg?
