SUN Solaris 10: Privileges and an End to Root User

journals.aol.com — Perhaps one of the most interesting developments with the world of computers in recent memory has been the development, release, and open sourcing of SUN's Solaris 10. Solaris 10 includes aspects of Trusted Solaris. This allowed SUN to build Zones, Containers, and provide incremental levels of privileges to individual users.

  • DavidHalko, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1These Trusted Solaris components allowed SUN to build Zones, Containers, and provide incremental levels of privileges to individual users without "giving away" the proverbial "farm" via the "root" user to the entire platform when special permissions are occasionally needed by an application.
