- schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Good luck to him. He joins the same exodus route as Jeremy Allison who did this in December.
- SecularG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This makes me happy. And it'll make giggle inside when I bring this up to my boss at work. He loves Novell.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8More Love for Google!
- cs02rm0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I've heard of him. He's one of several relatively high profile linux developers that Novell hired. So yes, I think it is technology news that they're leaving Novell now that Novell's in bed with Microsoft and that Google have offered one of them a new home, giving their work more security. Obviously someone's digging this up.
AFAIK some of the Novell guys have been behind a lot of Gnome related stuff - Evolution, Tomboy, F-Spot, etc. Robert himself is primarily a kernel developer I believe. - Philluminati, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I know who he is. I owe a book he wrote called "Linux Kernel Development".
- rajivvyas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4he developed the inotify patch that's very important for running apps like Beagle.

Who do you owe this book to? - Breepee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Let's hope that he'll put some steam behind Picasa for Linux. Current version is at 2.2 with promises over and over that 2.5/2.7 is coming very soon...
- BlackAdderIII, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I bet he wishes he was smart like you.
What kernel hacker and successful author wouldn't?
(rofl) - macewan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Spreading the Love - thanks Google. Has Novell spoken publicly about this Microsoft/Novell deal fallout?
- fleabag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Makes you wonder what google has in store for open source and possible competition against other open source companies.
- elliotlarson, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4damn, he's not a PHD... Google almost had themselves a love DR
- mbradbury, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1reading his blog, sounds like a *****
- techiemike, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Apparently people who read his blog don't know about Google...

- lynch03, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1i don't know the one about those robots who transformed into other things was funnier
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2Seriously,
When somebody goes to work for Google that nobody has ever heard of, is it really worthy of digg's front page?
Who cares? Google hires 15 people every day. So freakin' what?
Nobody who gets hired these days will make a dime from options- the game is over. Google has been giving callbacks to people I know who interviewed 10 months ago and were rejected. They are running out of suckers.

What is Digg?
