Remove the Taskbar from KDE 4
lifehacker.com.au — The Tombuntu blog offers a tip that more than one reader was asking after in last week's screenshot tour of KDE 4, the latest desktop manager release for Linux —how to get rid of the Windows-style bottom taskbar. I pulled it off somewhat by accident, but the actual tweak requires removing one section from a configuration file.

For the time being rather than having to install another DE like Gnome, you should open a terminal Ctrl+AltF1 and edit the config file using nano.- baalzebub, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2that is a text file that can be edited from any window manager, gnome is just something i would imagine the author just happened to have on hand already installed, usually every xorg install has at least twm and if Openmotif or lesstif is installed then mwm is installed too...
