- duke_nate, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24Just to point out, it is in no way shape or form, a Real Life Tricorder!!1!!1
Still pretty sweet for a PADD, but marked innacurate for getting my hopes up. - schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18If you can't see the value of this, then it's not for you. Themes can really enrich an experience though. Bland UI's and wallpapers kill individualism.
- submariner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Not a tricorder, but a "PADD"
Either way, I 'm going to order a 770. Been wanting one for awhile now. - mhanley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Direct link to the YouTube video:

- scratched, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10If you have to ask that then you probably shouldn't be here....
Just kidding, but you definitely need to watch Star Trek to get it. - YourTechSupport, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Thanks for pointing that out. I knew didn't qualify for a Tricorder because it doesn't like... 'cord' stuff. Until I can track radiation, temporal field variance, and where I left my car keys in one device, it's not a tricorder!
- syberghost, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8If standardization in tools kills your individualism, then you didn't have any of consequence to begin with.
It's like poetry; any idiot can write free verse, but it takes great skill to produce a work of art in rhyme and meter. - Clayphd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Just because I am that much of a geek I would like to point out that they are basing it off the PADD and not the Tricorder in Star Trek
- CPUGUy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Is it bad if you know exactly what episode and the details of said episode of DS9 that was?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5This is not a tricorder. This appears to be a PADD

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwXBPjLdJnU - linuxrebel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Dang IT! My 770 is in for repair (infant mortality) But when it comes back... I've got some downloading to do. And for Kiowner .... no not qtopia. It is a gnome derivation.
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6WARNING:
Troll Post Above. Do not read or reply. - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5thanks for that insider tip. Any other jewels of wisdom you care to share with us from your "back pounding" time in the slammer?
- palmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The question is, what are the three things that a tricorder records?

Matter, energy and they can time-shift LOST. - iampoch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sigh
does anybody know if a similar theme is available for the n80? - sputza, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4kickass
- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yay they mentioned my website at the bottom of the page!!
Thanks guys! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Here's the real tricorder:

The Maemo desktop on the Nokia 770 is GTK-based but not Gnome-based ... although it shares some upstream with Gnome.
The Qtopia desktop on the Sharp Zaurus is QT based but not KDE-based, AFAIK.
Different strokes for different folks. - Scatropolis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A great site I found while clicking links is http://www.lcarsdeveloper.com/
It's setting standards for developers using LCARS. - dukeinlondon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks like I need one of these nokia 770 after all ...
- finite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maemo can run on x86, using the scratchbox development environment. You should be able to install that on top of suse (although most of the instructions are for debian-based distros, so it might take a little extra figuring out). The u70p and the n770 both have 800x480 displays so it should work nicely with maemo fullscreen. Has anyone tried this yet?
- Scatropolis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not as long as you're correct :D
*cough**cough*changlings on earth*cough* - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2There's one of these on Ebay at the moment, too.
- mydogjack, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6wow I just Captain Kirked right in my pants !!!
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2You'd think by the 24th century, they'd have nicer user interfaces. I like how the file manager screenshot only shows the text of the filename of the 1 selected file.

- INHUMANITY, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Any direct link to the download? It requires registration.
- crossers, on 05/14/2008, -0/+0and were we can read about it?
- smorg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+047th post :)

At least he's honest with his user name. - pplante, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I really was hoping to see some type of case mod too.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Must see? Really? You've got to mention Apple in there if you really want the story to get Dugg.
- palmer, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2"Bland UI's and wallpapers kill individualism."
First of all, erroneous apostrophes kill plurals.
More to the point, "skins" DEFEAT the purpose of UIs by defying the standards that allow everyone to use them without "learning" them all over again.
It's sad that we have to explain this, in the year 2006. Why do you think it is that you can walk up to just about any computer in the world and know generally how to interact with it? - Markie1006, on 10/12/2007, -11/+8nerds

EDIT: Wow, talk about group think... four mirror posts in like 30 seconds. - dknighton, on 10/12/2007, -14/+6Wow...thanks for pointing that out. I would have never known it wasn't an ACTUAL REAL-LIFE TRI-CORDER, what with Star Trek being a work of FICTION and all.

Don't forget your sarcasm tags. - WarpFox, on 10/12/2007, -26/+12you should be happy with what microsoft gives you, damn hippies

News for you, trekkie pedophile geeks, they don't let you bring your phones in the slammer where you're going for being trekkie pedophile geeks.
