- SmellyGeekBoy, on 08/03/2008, -1/+20IBM have magical Digg powers.
- l4dyluck, on 08/03/2008, -2/+19Pff, who doesn't rebuild kernels for power in their spare time?
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -0/+17Dugg for being a REAL TECHNICAL ARTICLE ON DIGG, not some of the usual ***** that has overtaken the site over the last year.
- benologist, on 08/03/2008, -2/+12Is digg hoping for aquisition by IBM? This series of articles we've been getting from IBM lately, while refreshingly quality content, only applies to such a tiny group of people you have to wonder how it's repeatedly making the front page.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -0/+7Digg was once a TECHNICAL-NEWS site, not a harbor for ***** skateboarding videos and worthless "memes."
- handler, on 08/03/2008, -0/+6This isn't anything related to 4chan for once? I'm shocked.
- Iaan, on 08/03/2008, -4/+10Er, what is this about?
- SpookyET, on 08/03/2008, -0/+5No rpm vs deb comments unless you know about what you are talking. 99% of FUD spreading newbs don't.
- bobbknight, on 08/03/2008, -1/+5ppc64, meh.
- beingdevious, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4maybe digg is looking for a handout for some new servers?
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4If you want to turn two or more words into a single descriptive term, you need a hyphen:
FUD-spreading
The exception is when the first word ends in "ly", because you already know that one involves the next word:
This mostly obscure article offers valuable tips to the PowerPC enthusiast. - tian2992, on 08/04/2008, -0/+4There is a hardware architecture called POWER, which is the basis for the now dead PowerPC (made by IBM, Motorola, and Apple), and of the Cell architecture. POWER is a Very Powerful architecture, but of course, as with any other architecture, you need a kernel to run. This article explains how to compile a Redhat Linux 5.2 Kernel on a Power 64 based PC.
/geek off - tian2992, on 08/04/2008, -0/+2I only have PPC 32 Processors, but dugg for digg nostalgia.
- ilgaz, on 08/04/2008, -0/+2The CPU they speak about runs at 4,7 Ghz and new version runs 2 Threads same time on same core ;)
It is POWER, not the PPC Apple gave up. Well , we got a kick ass distant cousin anyway :) - cutchyacokov, on 08/04/2008, -0/+2While I have no intentions to buy any sort of PPC any time soon (and I would probably install Gentoo on it if I did) I still find the technical details contained in this article quite interesting. I find articles on the large hadron collider interesting as well, even though I certainly have no intention of building a particle accelerator. Why are all these people posting here if they don't find the article interesting? If it isn't for you, yet it also isn't inflammatory or inaccurate, you don't have to bury the article or say "WTF is this doing on the front page?" just ignore it and digg on. Is that so hard?
- Ebulating, on 08/04/2008, -1/+2I buried it for being ridiculously narrow. If you need to run RHEL on a Power 5, you will know where to look for information. Whats next, how to compile HURD for MIPS?
- tian2992, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1Well, it is ALMOST the same…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerPC
and POWER >3 include the full PPC instruction set… - PeachCobbler, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1It's the Digg Revival, sponsored by a horde of Intelligent Boyish-Men. (IBM)
/sarcasmforthosewhocantdetectitandfeeltheobligationtotrollandshowblantantfanboyism - ilgaz, on 08/04/2008, -1/+2WARNING: If IBM says "POWER", it is not PowerPC aka PPC, it is those monster CPUs they ship on servers and very high end Workstations.
- Sakumi, on 08/03/2008, -6/+2Not dugg, seeing as I don't think many people on Digg actually need to recompile the kernel for Power systems.
- rogueReindeer, on 08/03/2008, -12/+5can someone explain how this get on the front page with only 90-some diggs?
not to mention it's obscure as hell... - DjOverEZ, on 08/03/2008, -18/+8I'm gay.

What is Digg?
