Puppy Linux 4.0 on a Dell Inspiron 1150 Review

penguinway.net — In conclusion, if you are looking for something different I would give Puppy a try. This version is all built from source to maximize speed. Every program on my machine seems to open instaneously. Even with Compiz functionality turned off in Gnome, my Ubuntu install is no where near as fast.

  • wallclimber, on 05/23/2008, -0/+4What a nice review! Good find! Puppy Linux has apparently come a long way since I first tried it a couple of years ago. It's time to give it another look. God knows I have enough old machines around here to experiment with. Oddly DSL hasn't worked as well on any of the old computers as I'd hoped (could be my own inexperience that's the problem though).

    I'm off to download a new Puppy...
