- sanguinemoon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Looks like you beat me by a minute :D
- sanguinemoon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5If this makes the front page, I'm gonna get dugg down deep, but it seems PCLinuxOS fanboys behaved the same way Ubuntu fanboys behave when some critizes their precious distro. Woo unto him that says Ubuntu is less than perfect.
- Justathought, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Oli should really pull that entry out. This is just bad vibes all around. This whole thing makes Linux look bad. I am burring it.
- Justathought, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Oli,
I can see why you would feel offended by Tex's comments. But, look, he apologized. Be a big man and let it go. - lottolover, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3The author of this blog changed his blog 3 times, censored any posts that did not agree that Kubuntu was a better choice and why they felt that way and provoked the users on the pclos forums. Anyway I see where Tex apologized for being out of line and speaking in the heat of the moment so lets all be friends and have fun again. I gotta burn this one.
- Dracker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1There really needs to be more tolerance in the Linux community.
Who cares what distro you prefer? Use what YOU like. Isn't one of the points of Linux to prevent companies from shoving conformity down our throats? Promoting one distro over another is the same. - schestowitz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Let it slide. Don't help raise the tension.
- ianam, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0What's lost here is that someone posted an honest critical review of PCLinuxOS, and rather than being appreciated and thanked for his service to the community, he gets dressed down for "not letting it go" because TexStar "apologized" (but not really) for slandering the guy and siccing his fanboyz on him. The result of that sort of behavior will be that people will keep their mouths shut, and the only sort of "reviews" we'll see are the sort of shallow fluff that is all too prevalent.
- podgey22, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3This article isn't pointing the finger at the fanboys though... It's talking about the lead developer.
In fairness he has since aplogised but it's sad that it had to go that far to get any feedback on the incident. - ianam, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0TexStar sort of apologized ("I'm sorry if I offended anyone" isn't a real apology, the sort that recognizes and takes responsibility for bad acts) for being an ass, but the victim of his orchestrated and misdirected harassment is still treated as the bad guy. Interesting.
- Mereo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0"ubuntu fanboys do the same."
Just like any other extremist fanboys. But we're talking about the leader (The OS developer) here. He must take criticism constructively and do better. - podgey22, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Apart from I didn't. The first draft was edited as soon as I was prompted (albeit rudely) to look at some further documentation. I did that and responsible added edits. I had to completely redo my conclusion but this was all done in one edit. The third "edit" you're talking about was correcting a typo. Yeah I'm so evil I scare myself...
Once the material that everybody was commenting about was removed and edited, the comments served 0 purpose and were therefore scrapped. Posts that dealt in other things were left there and I didn't ban anybody for their conduct.
I'd say I was a lot more transparent that the people in control on the other side of the fence.
