- GnuTzu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Many years of bitterness is tough to placate. We don't want Novell to die, but many still want to feel that they are free of Microsoft. Those that feel this way will also feel sullied if they continue to deal with Novell.
If good things come of this, great. If Novell, survives this, better. But many will continue to be hypersensitive to any sense that the waters are being polluted. - groggyboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Change can be scary. I don't like Microsoft, but I feel this deal shouldn't be dismissed as bad simply because of who they are. Novell, it would appear, did what it had to do to survive.
Apple struck a deal with Microsoft in the late 90s, an exchange of code, and nothing bad came of that. To the contrary, both companies' operating systems were improved as a result of that collaboration.
I really hope Novell survives. I'm sure I'll get no love for this last comment, but their deal with the devil may even end up aiding the linux community as a whole.
