- schestowitz, on 10/10/2007, -10/+184People still use IE?
It's like using Navigator. - philovivero, on 10/10/2007, -2/+124It may be even funnier than it at first seems. We think it's Microsoft's ad code that's keeping IE6 users from seeing Digg's Linux/Unix section! Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction. (And no, we don't think it's on purpose. Just amusing coincidences stacked one atop the other.)
- gmprunner, on 10/10/2007, -0/+58I smell a penguin.
- alwaysmc2, on 10/10/2007, -2/+59Well I think both IE and Firefox users will agree that IE6 is crap.
- Alegoo92, on 10/10/2007, -16/+53So why r people going to the Linux section on IE?
- joestump, on 10/10/2007, -1/+32We just pushed a fix for this problem. You shouldn't get these errors in IE anymore.
- gmprunner, on 10/10/2007, -5/+33O RLY?
- tnoy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+27Same thing happens to me, except with IE7.
- Gerbil_Juice, on 10/10/2007, -4/+28Other way around, Captain Shadow.
- stmiller, on 10/10/2007, -3/+27Good. This will keep the MS trolls out of the Linux section.
- Niten, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18So is Lynx, for that matter :)
- fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18That's a feature jerk. Show some appreciation.... it wasn't easy for them to make a mere website so resource-whorish it could cripple modern hardware.
- mr1337, on 10/10/2007, -4/+21So why r people trying to save half a second by not fully typing out "are"?
- sinatosk, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20I get the same error too
- dgravelle, on 10/10/2007, -7/+20Opera's fine, too. (BTW)
- themastersb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Then again... some comments sections on Digg crash my Firefox.
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14He's using pen and paper, the paper mills are obviously upset about the threat of technology.
- blaaguuu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10They are no longer known as "America Online". Their official name was changed to AOL. Go to AOL.com and try to find any instance of the worlds "America Online"... It's tough, if it even exists.
- udha, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Jesus Christ, is it really that hard to type six extra characters to make your reply even remotely semblable? And there are two Os in too.
- alwaysmc2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9works fine with my IE7.
- Tenoq, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I get problems at home since upgraded to FF2. Frequently Digg can freeze FF for a few minutes.
- dxprog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Where the hell have you been?
- bduddy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7You have some serious spyware going on, then.
- mithrasinvictus, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11"However if you are in a situation where you are forced to use IE6" someone should be fired
- plastree, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Try programming to standards and you will quickly change your flawed assesment.
- joe7845, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I just wanna know when they are going to fix getting logged off at random.
- waterdrop, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6For me I get the error trying to get to the Apple section, Linux section, Microsoft section, and any other section under Technology.
- Stirk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The problem is with Internet Explorer.
- TheFinestShadow, on 10/10/2007, -10/+15...even though Navigator was Firefox back in the day.
- IllBeBack, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Because IE is still the most-used browser in the world? That couldn't be it, could it?
- Samtheman007, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5No, Microsoft serves the ad's for digg.com there was a story about it recently.
- skippyatuw, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7KTHXBYE
- binarybyron, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5you should bath.
- zackkitzmiller, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Some of us work, with systems we can't change. Ass.
- cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4And now Navigator is based on FireFox, the circle is complete.
- GhostRider72, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4This new design looks like a smurf puked up split pea soup.
- jspegele, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Someone please help ease the pain. I can't figure out why anyone that's reading the Linux/Unix section of Digg is still using IE.
- lengau, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5What Browser?
- tnoy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3FUD? It wasnt working 5 hours go and is now. You know, it was probably fixed inbetween the time it was first reported and when you tried.
- mancat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3He finds his runner for vice president.
- OneAndOnlySnob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Uh, works for me.
EDIT!!!: I don't use IE! I swear, I only opened it because I was curious. - BlackholeStorm, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Works fine here in IE7.
- roebeet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Navigator was the Firefox of 1994 (it had better features than NCSA Mosaic, and eventually became the dominant browser).
- jonfelder, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5What happens if Ron Paul falls into Chuck Norris?
- andywebb95, on 10/10/2007, -8/+11While I agree that sites need to test for IE6+ compatibility I recommend just switching to a different browser if possible.
However if you are in a situation where you are forced to use IE6 (either because your computer is locked down or you are otherwise forbidden from installing software on it) then my condolences.
Speaking as a web developer its a MAJOR pain in the rear to get a page working (especially a page that uses dynamic HTML, CSS and Javascript) in all the major browsers IE7, FF, etc. and then have something in IE6 break the page. At least with IE 7 Microsoft made SOME attempts at compatibility with accepted web standards and practices.
Currently I am using Adobe's Flex for all new projects as it makes my life 100 times easier for web based user interfaces (plus you get all of the cool visual effects and functionality you would expect in a Flash based application) and all I have to really worry about now is if the user has Flash 9 or higher installed (which is its own set of issues when you are working with organizations that lock their users computers down so they can't install plugins). - noddyxoi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That's the result of microsoft sponsoring DIGG, instead of MS advertisements appearing, linux "advertisements" dissapear.
- epsilona01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Digg constantly pisses off my Firefox. Pages don't finish loading, scripts bring up the 'this script is dragging your firefox down, kill it?' message constantly. And if the page doesn't finish loading, I can't leave comments or anything.
I've started reading reddit instead. - autoatsakiklis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3To download firefox?
- kuyman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Some people work.
