- bradallen18, on 10/11/2007, -2/+81Do you know what? The title doesn't say it all.
- schestowitz, on 10/11/2007, -3/+29I have Oxygen installed in 3.5. It's also AMAZING! KDE 4 in general has amazing looks.
- mournsanity, on 10/11/2007, -3/+25Everaldo is...what's that word again? AMAZING.
- krizhere, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17I'd really like to bury the submission just because of the description but I really like KDE4...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Has anyone attempted to transport these icons to Gnome. ( dont hate).
- philz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Nice - grey text on white background! It's all about... err.. userfriendlyness?
- jtizzle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Refrain? Jeez.
- Murphious, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Wait.. Is KDE going to be implementing the plasma icons or these ones?
- tallest, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8"Interation Design Project" ??
- bigtomrodney, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Because then it would be Kubuntu?
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop.
Unless you are talking about installing KDE and running it on top of GDM which to be honest isn't the ideal way to do it on any distro. - ardnut, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I think for kde 4 they adopted the same icon file naming convention that gnome is using, so shouldn't be too difficult.
- bolophojep, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7These icons are indeed beautiful by themselves. But they seem to lack in coherence as a whole.
The colours and form don't seem constrained, where some icons demand more attention than needed. This is especially true for open-office example http://www.everaldo.com/crystal/images/Crystal_openoffice.jpg - Jonty, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7We need an option to submit an amendment to the title or description, or at least be able to bury on the basis of being badly written. In my view, that's one of Digg's greatest faults: the quality of most of the stories is pathetic. I should be able to just read it and get the main gist of the story, only checking the link when I'm quite interested: instead, lazy submitters force me to do their work.
- jshabad00, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Yeah, Oxygen icons are looking pretty nice... Crystal is a bit used-up... even the latest version.
- ardnut, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Site seems to be down, I assume these are the same?
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Crystal+Project?content=60475 - TastyLamp, on 10/11/2007, -5/+11Why do they bother writing all that crap explaining what they are trying to do and the theory behind "human design". Just a quick "we're trying to make pretty icons" would suffice.
- ElGuano, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I saw it too, but I didn't want to be the first ahole to point it out...
- jonrobenator, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5KDE 4 is going to rock, and will, at the least, try it instead of Gnome when it comes out. I tried 3.5 a while ago and wasn't that impressed: it felt clumsy and clustered :( Not just plasma that I'm looking forward to either, all the backend stuff they're doing should be cool too!
- lengau, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Kubuntu is great. Especially if you want a system with APT. Another pretty good one, though, is Fedora+KDE.
- kyelewis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I was just about to say that... but it's so true. I can tolerate "title says it all" on articles where it truely truely does. But in this case... it doesn't at all! Why are there new icons, what are they for, and what do they look like... well you could answer the first two in the title, but until you can put pictures in the title, it won't say it all.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5From the home page:

The equation it’s very simple: put together humanism, psychoanalysis, semiotic and design. You’ll have “interaction design”.
The expression “humanism’ generally refers to a series of values and ideals related to the celebration of the human being. The expression, however, has different meanings, that a lot of times are conflicting and I do not intend to get deeper in this discussion here.It is enough to say that when the greek philosopher Protagoras from a reflection said: “The human being as the measure of all things”, he launches the basis on which humanism would be defined.

Oooookay. Who here wishes he would discuss the differing and conflicting meanings of "humanism"? No one? Really?
Uh, they're just tiny pictures of folders and trash cans, Poindexter. It's not like you invented cheese or anything. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5And the Mac 10.5 Spaces is a feature that have been in the Linux world for years and Steve Jobs announce it like an ultimate innovation...
- Snoopsor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Because there's so much more to it than that. It's to illustrate they aren't just trying to make them just pretty, but rather make them usable and universally understood through different cultures. It's about the passion and energy put into projects..They obviously love what they're doing and are putting an effort into explaining their reasoning and logic, which is very helpful in gaining a greater understanding of the project direction.
- stephenwq, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Not sure how Coral Cache treats non web pages, but i downloaded each through it and it worked.

Openoffice: http://www.everaldo.com.nyud.net:8080/crystal/crystal_project_OOO.zip - fishrjv, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Their rendition of the Firefox logo kicks ass
- kapowaz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5They're pretty good; finally they've stopped just making everything look pointlessly aqua-esque and focused on actual object metaphors. Of course, this means they end up looking very similar to OS X's icons, but hey, that's not a bad thing.
The one thing I don't understand is why virtually every new set of icons for any Linux WM insists on redesigning the Firefox icon. Why? Mozilla invested a lot of time and effort into building a brand around a recognisable logo, which was beautifully implemented by Jon Hicks. This decision shows up to be particularly bad when you see how shapeless and indistinct it is at the sort of size you'll usually see it: http://www.everaldo.com.nyud.net:8080/crystal/images/Crystal_firefox.jpg - DigitalDaiquiri, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Although I appreciate the work that has gone into developing the new Crystal icon set, I am personally looking more forward to the Oxygen project.
- allywilson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I like KDE, it's not as 'dumbed' down as Gnome, however it adds EVERYTHING to its KDE start-menu-esque bar. Can be irritating if you're on a small screen (e.g. laptop). Have KDE on my desktop though, and Gnome on my laptop. Consequently my laptop is a macbook lol.
- duder, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4archlinux... https://archlinux.org/
- chair, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4KDE 4's default icons will be Oxygen. I'm not sure because the site is down but I think the submission is talking about these icons (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Crystal+Project?content=60475) which we're released a couple weeks ago. They're the latest update in the Crystal family by Everaldo. I thought they were KDE 3 only but I can't see the site to check.
- maninalift, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3From the page: The equation it’s very simple: put together humanism, psychoanalysis, semiotic and design. You’ll have “interaction design”
WTF are you going on about? They are very nice icons, that's all. Aside from the dodgy grammar, the above statement is nonsense. The icons aren't even particularly interesting in design, good, yes but very much in the current glassy/web 2.0/water-bead trend.
I know I'm gonna be dug down for this. I'm not criticising the icons, just the just description. - actionscripted, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I logged in and clicked about 300 times to say this: you're a ***** idiot. You have no clue what you're talking about.
- burke, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I was going to write a big flame post, then I realized it's not worth it and you're the only one losing out here. Good luck.
- oobuntu, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3not sure if you were trolling but kubuntu is fine.
if you want regular release schedule then kubuntu is a good choice
or for stability and less frequent upgrades, then debian 4 "etch" rules.
..or why not just install the kde package on whatever distro you are using? - jawbreaker4fs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Definitely. It ruins the set.
- jawbreaker4fs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. It's the only one in the set that I think is off.
- ordminute, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Pretty nice, well rendered.
However, it seems the action icons have little or no stylistic relationship to the rest of the icon set. Seems a shame. Still has the old ghost of inconsistency I think..
It'd be good to see some original Icons made for KDE one day. Most will say "OSX, you are the wind beneath my wings". Everaldo started out with more vision but it seems he's bending a bit.
Functionality of KDE4 aside (which is very impressive - I prefer KDE to Aqua/OSX) KDE could also be a strong brand. Now it just seeks to look good, which isn't enough to gain popularity as a distinct and forward-thinking desktop. - baboonanza, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2NC. Accident
- mikm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Me too. I've been using SVN Oxygen for a few months now and am very pleased with it.
- weizbox, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I still gotta love my Dropline Neu! set.
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=38835
Yea yea, its on gnome-look, but you can use it in kde:p - jbus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Those are old.
- Jonty, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2We need an option to submit an amendment to the title or description, or at least be able to bury on the basis of being badly written. - mikm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Consistency.
- manbearpigm16, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Alright it is ripping off of Linux, but apple fanboys are only seeing it as innovative because they haven't seen it any where else. Where as saying Linux is not copying the gui of Windows and OS X is just plain lying to yourself.
- tallest, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yep, that's me. I do it so those who shy away from the 'ahole' label don't have to.
- Bread, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Where is my Iceweasel icon!
- schotty, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Not a big KDE guy here, I was under the impression that compiz, beryl, and compiz-fusion worked just fine under KDE. Am I mistaken?
- aaroncampbell, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I think the firefox icon looks great, and is no less shapeless or indistinct at small sizes than the official logo. Also, while there are obvious differences, the theme remains, so I think that this is still "recognizable" as the FireFox logo.
- Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1At least KDE has a comprehensive menu editor.
