- republicoftexas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Will myth work with Dish Network? If so, how? Websites anyone?
I have it downloaded and the parts ready but I am waiting for spare time. - roblabanca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I ended up buying a used Xbox, modding it, and running XBMC. It was the easiest more cost effective solution for me (total cost $120). I use TVTad to grab all my shows and stream them from my home PC. Best of all, my wife loves the ease of use, the kids love that its an xbox. I'm not crapping on Myth at all... just take a look at Xbox media center before you take the plunge.
- fanboydcs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0im running 0.18 its amazing, but im sure that the new animated themes and stablity of 0.19 is going to kick it up a knotch, Hopefully they port the new frontend to macosx, so I can use it on my mac mini like I have been doing with 0.18...
- beernuts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dhughes - Unless you're married to the idea of using the tv-out on the 350, I'd steer clear of it (lots of extra work to get things like mythgame working last time I looked). I'd say most people on the list are using 250s and 150s for standard cable, with 3 or 4 types of hdtv cards (I haven't explored that yet). My current rig has 2 pvr-250s with a slave backend that contains a pvr-150. Recording quality is about the same between the cards. With the latest release of ivtv, the 150 is well supported, so I'd recommend that. If you get the one w/out the remote, they can be had for under $75 US.
- riskable, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been using MythTV SVN for a couple weeks now. The improvements are many, but the bugfixes are more. It seems like they worked on more things "in the background" than features users will see up front. I can't wait to see some of the new animated themes.

"I have a license to kill -9" - line72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is there a changelog anywhere showing what will be in mythtv 0.19?
- dhughes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 I'm (finally) gathering the parts right now. All I need is a good TV card (Hauppauge WinTV 250, 350?) and a remote (Streamzap?) that don't cost a fortune + Knoppmyth for now for me.
Maybe I'll browse the wiki and get some idea of what direction to go hardware-wise. - Darth_tater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0" i love MythTV. anyone want to build me a box? I'm too lazy."
shure u got a few hundred on you (hardware...)?
i built a bunch for friends im bulding one for aunt this weekend - irabinovitch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0KnoppMyth is a bootable linux CD based on Knoppix and MythTV. KnopMyth will have a booth on the expo floor at SCALE 4x. http://www.socallinuxexpo.org
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0does the ATI eHome cards work? I like to try myth out...
- ToeCheese, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@spelchek
Download KnoppMyth and just get a pc to run it on.
@roblabanca
Not to knock XBMC (in fact I have it in my son's room) but can it record video? I was wondering if it was possible by using the plextor mp4 usb hardware encoder - timeshifter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ATI HDTV Wonder is now supported! w00t!
I bought this card a few months back, but never really got it working well mainly due to poor reception with the bundled antenna. I'd love to give it another whirl now. - spelchek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i love MythTV. anyone want to build me a box? I'm too lazy.
- kiwimonk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bump for MythTV!
- AhronZombi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i cant wait till the knoppmyth 0.19 release is out. mythtv kicks tivos ass any day, and its free
- tale, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Where can I find more information about the ATI HDTV Wonder now being supported. I've held back getting one of these cards for a while because I wanted the option of using it with linux or windows. Newegg.com has these cards for $93 after rebate!

Thanks! - lysander, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0re: dhughes and beernuts, rnrnThe Hauppauge 350 comes with remote and IR receiver, but yes, there are a few hoops to hop through to get it working with KnoppMyth (as of R5A26). Using the TV-Out and the hardware decoder, the box is ~99% idle during playback, which is pretty impressive. I don't use it for anything but TV, so I can't say if there are game play problems.rnrnOne of the other Hauppauge cards would work better if you want something that Just Works. The non-MCE Hauppauge 150 comes with a remote.rnrnMy mythbox specs: 2 GHz Celeron, 512 MB, 2 x 250 GB (~200 hours)

- kmcgahey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If MythTV 0.19 is going to be released, why isn't there an announcement on the myth web site?

Because we developers have our own mailing list and plan releases there... When .19 is within a couple days of release you'll probably see something on the web site. - harlock427, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hurrahs on 0.19 release work big question though...
has progress been made in getting vbi recording working with ivtv slices? (0.18 worked very well vbi for CC and pic recording but ever since I upgraded to PV150 and PVR500 no CC and complaint that myth can't record VBI for some reason)... or mabe I'm doing something wrong... - curtissthompson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think I'm going to do this, seeing as I'm headed off to college in 8 months here....can anyone tell me if I want to do hdtv high end box for mythTV what hardware I should get and a general price range?
Also, Am I able to run it on a partition of a computer, or would it be easier to run it off of a separate box? And any pros/cons between either possibility?! - PrettyBoyFloyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just built my first MythTV box last weekend. Still playing with it, but it was quite an education. It was just a test build with a spare IDE disk I had lying around, since my final plan is to put a 200Gb SATA disk in it, but my power supply doesn't have any SATA connectors. I've found some adapters online, but CompUSA doesn't seem to carry them and I haven't yet gotten down to Fry's to see if they have them. I wasn't about to spend $99 on a new PS with SATA connectors when the adapters I found online were only $9-12 each.
- noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey spelchek:
I'll build you one for fifty bucks plus any other shipping and item costs. :) - ZMorek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have been DYING for a new update, I my frontend has been having some weird behavior, maybe with this new release I'll finally break free from the world of rpm packages and *gasp* compile on my own!
wish me luck
