- benanzo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Could this be because the GPLv3 is poised for success and will undoubtedly force MS to relinquish their claims of IP violations against Free software or throw away the $240 million indemnification deal with Novell? It seems to me that they are trying to divide the FOSS community and turn half of us against the FSF including RMS and Eben Moglen (the two best friends a developer could have.) We need to see through this propaganda and force MS to the mattress. If they back out of the deal, we know what it was really all about...not interoperability...not "building a bridge"... -- It will show they were just in it to try and gain an anticompetitive advantage like they always do.
- onnoot, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Right... Criticism from Microsoft proves that the GPL3 is on the right track.
- baalzebub, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6microsoft does not want to build a bridge & cooperate for interoperability, microsoft is wanting to build a one-way street with all the cash & benefits flowing towards microsoft, if microsoft was truly interested in interoperability they would use open file formats for office documents & spreadsheets and Audio & Video file formats too. (not by shady deals with novell)...
this article is all about microsoft manipulating the press with lame press releases...
personally i could care less for interoperability, Linux is gaining traction in the market and that is good regardless which distro makes it to #1 in the market because it will benefit all distros in the long run, so if microsoft wants to play games and tell lies & FUD let them because microsoft is just painting themselves in to a corner and that corner will get smaller and smaller as more people see thru the lies & FUD... - LanEvo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6I don't want to walk across a bridge that Microsoft has built through bullying and deceit.
There are plenty of (fairly) respectable commercial and proprietary organizations that have "built bridges" without stomping and spitting on the community. Microsoft isn't one of them. - schestowitz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2"This is truly a recurring pattern, a coordinated effort if you like, in which Novell plays a role as well. If you remain unconvinced, then you are urged to follow those links where we discussed (with proof) cases where the media is being used as a weapon to discredit the FSF, Richard Stallman, the GPL, Groklaw, Open Source software, and GNU/Linux.
The latest comes from eWeek, where ACT warns about “the risks with the latest GPL draft”. The article, in its defence, cares to mention something important which must not be overlooked."

Microsoft has already admitted that it's scared of GPLv3. It also said it's the reason it started the patent FUD attack. Now they carry on using shills and proxies (even media) to muddy the water.
