Isn't that the same bitch who said Leopard copied Vista?
http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=505 - Spr0k3t, on 10/10/2007, -19/+125Who would have guessed... it's the exact same FUD with different comments.
- wiifm69, on 10/10/2007, -9/+104So Windows is now more secure that RedHat? The pretty bar graph told me

God I love Microsoft sites. - masterc, on 10/14/2007, -16/+94"Our [Microsoft] solution is saving us $10.5 million over five years in software costs alone."
Linux = free, while Microsoft ***** = not free. Hmm... which one would you chose? - doolittle, on 10/10/2007, -12/+81At first I was thinking of a good analogy... "a rose is a rose" came to mind.
However, in this case clearly "you can't polish a turd" is much more appropriate. - vwvwvw, on 10/14/2007, -2/+53You just got dugg down by me, in my living room, in front of my dog.
- badjoke, on 10/10/2007, -7/+39I was thinking the same thing. Her opinions are garbage.
- Vich, on 10/10/2007, -2/+33I have to agree that human sight was poorly designed. I want to be able to zoom in on things and see through walls. God, we need upgrades.
- Gagle, on 10/10/2007, -6/+35You're an ass on so many levels I doubt there are enough integers to list them.
- geekee, on 10/10/2007, -3/+30Ever look at the prices for Red Hat Enterprise? Some people actually want some support. Nothing is free. Either you hire your own people for support, or you pay a company for it.
- zenerdiode, on 10/10/2007, -12/+38What the hell else are they supposed to do?
Saying "Linux and Apple are way better than us!" ain't gonna do a whole lot for their stock prices. They are in it to make money after all. - sctwp09, on 10/14/2007, -3/+28***** Jay Adelson, tell him to fix the comment system.
- tubeblender, on 10/10/2007, -4/+26She may be annoying but at least she's stupid.
- nbkleinberg, on 10/10/2007, -9/+31The site is poorly spelled.
- stuffok, on 10/10/2007, -6/+26Here is a more fair comparison..

Fact is, M$ just doesn't give a damn.. - Mesmorize, on 10/10/2007, -13/+32When did advertising your product become so offensive to people?
- Phocion55, on 10/10/2007, -7/+26Have fun with that rootkit.
- msgmsg, on 10/10/2007, -17/+35Yeah, it's okay when Linux does it, right? But oh no Microsoft, you've just gone too far this time.
- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -4/+22Seriously though, I love how people ***** down Linux left and right, but they're doing it on the web which, in the greatest majority, is powered by Linux servers.
- Ngai, on 10/10/2007, -5/+22she doesn't know what an HD is...
- shoerob, on 10/10/2007, -13/+30So, whats the problem? Linux users have been saying hateful things about windows for years.
- sint4x, on 10/10/2007, -5/+21Our [Microsoft] solution is saving us $10.5 million over five years in software costs alone.
LOL Software costs? - ArmchairAthlete, on 10/10/2007, -6/+22Oh but the real costs aren't just in the initial price.
- vemerge, on 10/10/2007, -10/+25Most people would choose Linux. That doesn't necessarily mean Microsoft server solutions are the incorrect choice in every implementation. If switching from Linux to Microsoft is saving a company $2+ million a year, who are we to give them ***** for choosing MSFT?
- joe90210, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19Ubuntu is not a server OS
- vemerge, on 10/10/2007, -10/+24Sight? With knowledge of the English language as extensive as yours, I'm surprised you were even able to find the page.
- ArthurSucks, on 10/10/2007, -5/+19You do a lot of troubleshooting in windows, eh?
- Twasi, on 10/10/2007, -23/+37Google: Failed validation, 50 Errors
If you think W3 validation means anything, you know nothing about web design as a whole. - sundancekid503, on 10/10/2007, -17/+30It's not a hate crime to advertise your product against the competition. Come one guys, I like Linux and all, but I see more "hate" coming from the Linux camp than Microsoft.
- nukexbi, on 10/10/2007, -10/+23Why the hell do people still equate open source with free? Enterprise level Linux solutions are far from free.
Both Linux and Windows have their places in business; anybody actually in the IT industry understands this.
I am tired of all the MS bashing from people who don't have a clue or who don't know how to calculate an accurate TCO. - latova, on 10/10/2007, -5/+18If pretty comments and colourful graphics is all it takes to make someone go to windows, then maybe they deserve to be screwed out of their money.
- msgyrd, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16I've never seen the costs comparison, but:
Linux = Free, pay for additional commercial support though.
Windows = Expensive, STILL pay for additional commercial support. - TheMidnight, on 10/10/2007, -5/+18Imagine that, a company putting up a webpage that shows its product in a positive light compared to another. Oh the horror!
- afx1, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15rh is popular on the enterprise level...this isn't a comparison for home users.
- rnreekez, on 10/10/2007, -14/+26Hmm lets see...
Corporations using Red Hat: Merrill Lynch, DreamWorks, Charles Schwab, IBM...etc..etc
Corporations using M$: Autozone, AMD and Jelly Belly's
Jelly Belly.....FTW?? No, It just doesn't feel right. - iofthestorm, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15Honest question: There are MS fanboys? Xbox fanboys maybe, but real MS fanboys?
- cannibaljp, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15um... where to start?
you know that Microsoft is a corporation, and Linux is an operating system? So you're statement seems to indicate that you think that the Redmond based corporation is somehow superior to the Unix based operating system.
let me just look at that for a minute.
i see... yep... you're an idiot. - Phocion55, on 10/10/2007, -9/+20Good luck getting MS fanboys to admit that..........
- apotropaic, on 10/10/2007, -9/+20Ahhh, all they keep repeating on this site is, see we are just as good a unix. We've improved our product so much that we are just as good. See. For real. See these people we gave huge discounts to, they say so too!
But the truth is... windows server has always and will always be playing catchup. Any money anybody saves with microsoft, is simply microsoft cutting them a deal because they are like long term investors and they cut you a deal for the first year or two. They know once you go MS, you can't go back! No literately, its in some peoples contracts. Also there is no way MS is cheaper in the long run with their licensing scheme. For example, sure company X may have saved 2.4 million dollars switching to windows server 2003, but in the contact they are forced to upgrade to the next server package the MS releases, and when the next release of windows comes out, you have to upgrade all your desktops to it too. *Boom* there goes 2.4 million dollars. Because the companies older machines weren't fast enough to run vista, oh and all those new vista machines are gonna need windows server licenses! And if you want them to remote desktop in, they are gonna need TS licenses on top of just their normal ones! lol!
I'm sure there is a reason for some people to run MS, but to say they are cheaper, is a short term gimmick and nothing more. - arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12what the hell are you talking about?
- Visk, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12"Hello I'm a Mac." "And I'm a PC"
- MarkOfTheDead, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13I love Lamp.
- paulisnotdead, on 10/10/2007, -22/+32yo mama sucks (I'm gonna get dugg down but still)
- gamecast, on 10/10/2007, -20/+30the correct terminology is "*****"
- totorototoro, on 10/10/2007, -8/+17Now that their lapdog SCO is out of the game, MS needs to step it up on their own :p
- donuts, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Microsoft could work on actual better products rather than monopolistic practices and marketing lies.
- trogdoor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I think ( at least hope ) that anyone who reads Digg would understand what FUD means.
- Spr0k3t, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8You lead a very sheltered life if you don't understand what FUD is. I guess ignorance is bliss in such moments.
- onefix, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Lets see.
* TCO - They are actually telling you "our software may cost more, but you'll get your admins cheaper". I also see a pretty little graph and no comparison of Windows Server average downtime versus Linux...
* Reliability - Reliability is not "ease of use". If your admins are saying "Linux is too hard", you need to fire your admins. As far as "predictability", Red Hat supports all enterprise level OSes for 10 years before End of Life. Also, GoDaddy started using IIS servers for their "squatting" pages, that's how the "3.5 million domains" number came up.
* Security - The same flawed logic is used as has been used before. Red Hat for instance contains at least 2 browsers (Firefox & Konqueror), 2 office suites (OpenOffice & KOffice), a photo editor (GIMP), various shells (bash, ksh, csh, zsh), many compilers/languages (GCC, Python, Perl, PHP, etc), multiple servers (dovecot, postfix, apache, openldap, ssh, etc) and WIndows is well, Windows. Because Windows doesn't include nearly as much software, all of the vulnerabilities in Windows tend to be nasty OS level bugs. Ask for lists of vulnerabilities to backup these comparisons and you'll see the full story on this one.
* Skills, Choice, etc - This one has another "Linux is hard" argument. See "reliability". The other argument seems to tend to list the number of companies that develop for Windows as a major plus. And I would have to partly agree here, Windows has many more Game developers, Anti-Virus developers, Spyware developers, Anti-Spyware developers, "OS Fix" developers, User "widget" developers, etc than Linux. Do any of these matter in business decisions? No. For the most part the lack of Linux developers is due to Linux being pretty much only a server OS and not much else. The other reason is that many of the tools for Linux are developed by Open Source developers (like Apache) and there is either no need for competitors or there are enough choices (postfix, exim, sendmail, etc for e-mail).
* Manageability - This is another "Linux is hard" argument. There's something to be said for the powerful command line of Linux. A comparison I like to give people is when using the command line, I have 101 buttons on my interface. When you're using a GUI, you have 2/3 buttons.
* Interoperability - Last time I checked, all of the interoperability problems were between Windows and Mac OS / Linux. Mac OS and Linux seem to talk fine. And there's also the point that companies like Google use Linux for their servers and I can't remember the last time someone on Windows said that their OS was having problems with Google's services. -
