"offers no keyboard or other standard user interfaces. Instead, a bend sensor detects when the device is squeezed, while an accelerometer detects movement. A photosensor adds ambient light detection."
Someone will almost certainly write an "abuse detection algorithm" to detect such events.
Of course, it will be up to you to select an appropriate response from the device when you assert your morning rage on the poor thing. - agentVivid, on 11/14/2007, -0/+1i just got my chumby in the mail... it's rad -- and BTW it's not as simple as a clock !!!
it worked EXACTLY AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO straight out of the box ( something rare these days )
as a programmer, i look forward to supporting all those chumbians with my skills --- the open source community is always amazing and this little niche is no different
give the chumby community a year and it will be a totally different ballgame - swordedge, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Now, if you could get it to scream when you pick it up and throw it across the room!!!! I don't know about you but I am not nice to things in the morning
- geminitojanus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You can design your own case, the front panel pops right out of its leathery underbelly, and you can put it into anything you want.

Thus, I use an old PC to play music through a 2.1 computer speaker. The subwoofer is under the bed and vibrates it nicely.
- BigManOnCampus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1But standard digital alarm clocks go for literally $5 at discount stores... why would I want to spend more?
- kelchm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Cool idea, but I don't like the design. It just doesn't look very cool.
How about a TiX Clock inspired version?

OK actually price matters to us geeks because why would we pay $300 for some dumb thing we could design ourselves? - bgreen, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1It might replace nerds' clock radios, maybe not the average joe's. I've been checking back on their site every few weeks anticipating updates, as I'd gladly buy a couple as soon as they're available. I'd love to have an alarm clock that wakes me up and allows me to easily check weather, traffic, any interesting news blurbs via rss.
